First Batch of Iraqi Pilgrims Enters Saudi Arabia through Jadidah Arar Border Crossing

The Passports Office of the Jadidah Arar land border crossing in the Northern Border Region received Friday the first Iraqi pilgrims and finalized their entry procedures to the Kingdom.

The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) announced its full readiness to receive pilgrims and facilitate their entry procedures at the Kingdom’s international air, land, and sea crossings, using the latest technologies run by highly qualified personnel.

Department of Meteorology Warns of Poor Horizontal Visibility at Places

Weather inshore tonight until 6:00 am on Sunday will be slight dust to dusty at places at times, the Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather report, warning of poor horizontal visibility at places.

Offshore, it will be slight dust and some clouds at times, the report added, warning of strong wind and high sea.

Wind inshore will be Northwesterly 06 – 16 KT gusting to 25 KT at places at first.

Offshore, it will be Northwesterly – Westerly 05 – 15 KT reaches to 20 KT at places.

Visibility will be 4 to 08/02 kilometers or less at places at times.

Sea state inshore will be 1 – 3 FT.

Offshore will be 2 – 4 FT, rises to 6 FT at places.

Aggression commits 96 violations in Hodeida in 24 hours

The aggression forces committed 96 violations of the ceasefire agreement in Hodeida province over the past 24 hours, an official at the operations room to monitor the violations said on Saturday.

The official in the operations room told the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that among the aggression forces violations were eight airstrikes by spy planes on Hays, the creation of combat fortifications, and 13 spy planes flew over Hays and al-Jabaliya.

He indicated that the aggression forces also committed 13 violations with artillery shell and 52 violations with various gunshots.

US President Signs Bill to Raise Debt Ceiling

US President Joe Biden approved today a bill to raise the country’s public debt ceiling, after weeks of negotiations between Democrats and Republicans.

With President Biden signing the deal that was approved by the Senate on Friday and the Representatives on Thursday, the bill became effective.

Earlier, the US Congress passed the bill that raises the public debt ceiling until January 2025, in addition to setting a number of goals in the budget.

The passage of the bill allowed the United States to avoid defaulting on its debt by raising the debt ceiling.

Petra sees increase in visitors, may break record with 1.5mln visitors by year-end – authority

With more and more tourists flocking to visit Jordan’s tourist jewel, Petra, the red-rose city may break a record in the number of visitors by the end of the current year. According to figures released Saturday by the Petra Tourism Development Region Authority (PDTRA), a total of 610,722 tourists visited Petra in the first five months of 2023. The authority’s Chief Commissioner Suleiman Farajat explained that this upward trend in the number of visitors may be record breaking, predicting that the number of visitors will hit 1.5 million by year-end. On a monthly level, a total of 139,685 people visited Petra in May 2023, indicating a 42-percent growth from the same month of last year, according to the figures. Of those visitors, 119,128 were foreigners, 4,912 were Jordanians and 13,982 were Arabs. Farajat stressed that the authority will take the necessary measure for the upcoming tourist season to offer visitors a unique experience.
