Saudi Minister of Commerce Arrives in London to Discuss Ways to Boost Saudi-UK Economic Partnership

Saudi Minister of Commerce Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, heading a high-level Saudi delegation, arrived today in the British capital, London, to participate in the third meeting of the Economic and Social Committee of the Saudi-British Strategic Partnership Council. Al-Qasabi will also hold a series of meetings with officials from the government and business sectors with the aim of promoting intra-regional trade in products and services, and increasing the level of economic partnership between the two countries.

The Saudi delegation, in London until June 8, includes Deputy Minister of Commerce and CEO of the National Center for Competitiveness Dr. Iman bint Habas Al-Mutairi and 45 other officials from 22 government, private and non-profit institutions.

Al-Qasabi is scheduled to meet with UK Minister of Investment Lord Dominic Johnson; the meeting will be attended by Saudi Ambassador to UK Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz.

The two ministers will discuss means of enhancing economic partnerships in priority sectors for the two countries and of encouraging British companies to expand their businesses in the Kingdom, addressing the motivation and financing of start-ups in promising research and innovation-based areas, and reviewing Britain’s experience in entrepreneurship.

Prime Minister Inaugurates Qatar Real Estate Forum 2023

HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani inaugurated on Sunday the first edition of the Qatar Real Estate Forum 2023. The forum is organized by the Ministry of Municipality at the Sheraton Grand Doha Hotel, under the theme of ‘Regulations and Legislation for an Optimal Quality of Life and a Sustainable Real Estate Industry.’ A lineup of Their Excellencies Ministers and Members of diplomatic missions accredited to the country, along with several senior officials and businesspersons attended the inauguration of the forum.

With the participation of 1,500 leaders, decision makers, experts, and actors in the real estate from Qatar and beyond, Qatar Real Estate Forum 2023 highlights regional and global best expertise and practices related to the real estate sector.

Amir Rep. leaves for home after President Erdogan’s inauguration

Representative of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah left Ankara International Airport on Saturday after attending the inauguration ceremony of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, of friendly Turkiye.

He was seen off by Kuwait Ambassador to the Turkish Republic Wael Al-Enzi, the diplomatic staff of Kuwait Embassy and a number of Turkish officials.

Info. Minister lauds preparations for ’23 National Assembly polls

Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi made on Saturday an inspection tour of the main communication center of the 2023 National Assembly elections, and Studio 800 and Studio 300 set for covering the vote counting operations.

During the trip, the minister lauded the professional preparations for elections, Spokesman of the Ministry of Information Anwar Murad said in press release.

Al-Mutairi stressed the need of media coverage meeting the expectations of the public in terms of professionalism, objectivity and impartiality in keeping with the noble values of Kuwait’s democracy.

He noted that his trip aimed to encourage the staffers of the Ministry to abide by the strategy of the Ministry for cementing the national unity and serving the society based on transparency and professionalism, the spokesman added.

Amir Rep. attends Turkish President’s inauguration ceremony

Representing His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah attended the inauguration ceremony of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, of friendly Turkiye, in Ankara on Saturday.

He conveyed the greetings and best wishes of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to Turkish people and government.

On behalf of the Kuwaiti people and government, Sheikh Salem Abdullah congratulated President Erdogan on his recent reelection, wishing him everlasting wellbeing and friendly Turkiye more progress and prosperity.

Representative of His Highness the Amir also attended a dinner banquet hosted by the Turkish leader for the high-level officials in attendance at the ceremony.

Death toll from India tragic train accident rises to 288

The death toll in the crash of a passenger and a goods trains rose Saturday to 288 in addition to 1,000 wounded people.

Condolences poured in from within and without the country after the tragedy took place last night.

Several bogies of a speeding Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express derailed and hit a freight train stationed at Bahanaga Bazar in Odisha’s Balasore. Soon after Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express heading from Yesvantpur city near Bengaluru in Karnataka to Howrah city in West Bengal came and hit the derailed bogies and resulted in the biggest train tragedy of the country in the century.

According to reports, Coromandel Express was carrying around 1,257 reserved passengers while 1,039 people with reserved tickets were travelling on board Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express when the accident tok place.

This is in addition to hundreds of passengers travelling with unreserved tickets in both the trains.

Leaders in the central and state governments, and several important and influential people and leaders from across the world expressed their deep sorrow and condolences in the incident. Kuwait leadership was among the first to express condolences.

Condolences are also pouring in from world leaders on train crash. Kuwait leadership expressed its grief and conveyed condolences to the Indian leadership and people.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, President of UAE Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, European Council President Charles Michel and Taiwan President Tsai Ing-Wen are among those who expressed condolences.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the accident site and expressed his sorrow. He shared the pain of those who were affected by the accident while pledging to take stringent action against those who are responsible for the massive deadly incident.
