Ministry of Culture Holds Symposium on Qatari Military Music in Katara

The Ministry of Culture’s Music Affairs Center (MAC) held Monday evening a symposium in cooperation with the Qatar Armed Forces Band Regiment, at Katara Drama Theater.

Entitled ‘Qatari Military Music’, the symposium is part of the Music Salon series, which was launched by the MAC as a permanent activity. Commander of the Military Performances and Music Center, Staff Major Gen. Salem Fahd Al Hababi was a key speaker in the symposium which was moderated by MAC Deputy Director Poet Abdul Hameed Al Youssef.

In his speech, Al Hababi reviewed the history of military music in Qatar, which was founded in early 1949.

He explained that the Qatar Armed Forces Band Regiment has many duties, particularly during the Amiri Diwan ceremonies to welcome HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s guests, the National Day celebration, the graduation of the Armed Forces’ colleges and training institutes, the Scientific Excellence Day celebrations, in addition to the sporting events in the State.

He added that the regiment took part in international festivals in the GCC countries as well as foreign countries such as the US, France, Italy, Germany, Russia and China, where it gained much admiration.

Speaking to Qatar news Agency , Head Manager of the Music Affairs Center Khalid Salem said the Musical Salon continues its efforts to highlight the different types of music, adding that the Qatari Armed Forces Band Regiment has very strong musical potentials, and it has a commitment to playing, performing and military marches.

Ensuring social protection for all people is Kuwait’s priority – Min.

Kuwaiti Minister of Social Affairs and Community Development and Minister of State for Women and Children’s Affairs Mai Al-Baghly affirmed that Kuwait follows international measures to ensure social protection for all society categories.

The remarks came during Al-Baghli’s speech, while chairing Kuwait’s delegation in the 2nd Ministerial Conference on Social Development of member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), under the theme (social jusice and security), held in Cairo on Tuesday, under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi.

Social globalization has a big impact on family values, said the minister, adding that Kuwait is continuously seeking to protect the Arab and Islamic identity when it comes to family values.

Meanwhile, she noted that Kuwait always works on spreading awareness on marriage, finding solutions for youth refraining from marriage.

The country also aims to provide an easier life for children, the elderly and people with special needs. This includes enhancing children’s protection laws and providing them with proper education, as well as providing job opportunities and training for disabled people, said the minister.

Kuwait Info. Min. visits KUNA, inspects workflow during elections coverage

Minister of Information and State Minister for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi took a tour in the Editorial sector at KUNA, to check the workflow of covering the 2023 national assembly elections, which started earlier Tuesday, and was briefed on the agency’s efforts in conveying the information to local, Arab and foreign media agencies.

During his visit, the Minister listened to a detailed explanation of the various efforts and services provided by the agency in terms of news, reports and press interviews, which in turn helps various media outlets with to cover the parliamentary elections in the best way possible.

Al-Mutairi was also briefed on the work plan in the editorial sector and the field teams covering all constituencies in the country.

He praised the important role of KUNA in covering “Kuwait’s Democratic Wedding”, urging to put in the efforts to present it the best way possible.

The Minister of Information was received by KUNA’s Director General Dr. Fatima Al-Salem, Acting Deputy Director for the Administrative, Financial Affairs and Communications Sector Mohammad Al-Mannei, Deputy Director-General for the Editorial Sector, Editor-in-Chief Essam Al-Ghanim, and senior officials.

EU, NATO condemn attack on Nova Kakhovka dam in Ukraine

The European Union and NATOA Tuesday condemned the attack on the Nova Kakhovka dam in the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant in the city of Nova Kakhovka in Ukraine’s Kherson region, which is currently under Russian control.

“The destruction of the Kakhovka dam today puts thousands of civilians at risk and causes severe environmental damage,” said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on his twitter message.

“This is an outrageous act, which demonstrates once again the brutality of Russia?’s war in Ukraine,” he added.

On his part, President of the European Council Charles Michel expressed his “shock” by the unprecedented attack of the Nova Kakhovka dam.

“The destruction of civilian infrastructure clearly qualifies as a war crime – and we will hold Russia and its proxies accountable,” he added.
