The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, underscored the Council’s commitment to confronting Daesh on all fronts, dismantling its networks and countering its global ambitions in a way that contributes to finding a collective understanding among the members of the Global Coalition to counter Daesh.
Albudaiwi made the remarks during his participation today in Riyadh at the ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition against Daesh chaired by The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, and the U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken. Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Coalition members attended the meeting.
The GCC Secretary General expressed profound gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs for hosting the ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition against Daesh.
Albudaiwi said that the importance of the meeting lies in deepening political cooperation between coalition members. He added that it is an excellent opportunity for consultation and the exchange of views on strategies and means to confront the serious challenges posed by Daesh. He went on to say that all efforts should be coordinated with regional and multilateral initiatives to confront all terrorist organizations to enhance regional and global security and stability.
