Qatar Museums to Showcase Rich Cultural Offerings at DIBF 2023

Qatar Museums announced its participation in the upcoming 32nd Doha International Book Fair (DIBF), set to take place at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) from 12 to 21 June 2023.

In the 32nd edition of DIBF, Qatar Museums’ booth will serve as a dedicated space for visitors to explore a wide selection of new titles, award-winning publications, and unique art catalogues that delve into topics such as history, architecture, archaeology, orientalism, modern and Islamic art, sports, and captivating children’s stories.

Commenting on the occasion, Publications Director at Qatar Museums Randa Takieddine said: “Our annual participation in the Doha International Book Fair highlights QM’s belief in the power of books to inspire individual creativity and understanding and build bridges between people and cultures. We are very proud of the wide variety of exceptional publications that we will be showcasing this year and we look forward to sharing them with all the art and history lovers in Doha.” In addition to a wide range of publications, Qatar Museums will hold several activities, including book launches and interactive workshops, as well as book discussions at the main Book Fair.

QSWF Participates in European Social Work Conference 2023 in Prague

As part of the its efforts to build relationships with social work organizations around the world, Qatar Social Work Foundation (QSWF) participated in the European Social Work Conference 2023, which was organized by the international Federation of Social Workers in Prague.

QSWF team participating in the conference presented a paper on the role of information technology and the Internet in improving the role of social workers of QSWF and its affiliated centers, and the importance of adopting the modern technology to make the services it provides more effective and comprehensive.

The conference highlighted smart solutions in dealing with the challenges facing social workers.

QSWF’s participation comes within the framework of its advocacy and international relations plan, which aims to achieve integration with the international community, engage with experts in the field of social work, transfer experiences and exchange expertise in the field of activating social work and serving the target groups.

On the margins of the conference, QSWF delegation held meetings with delegations from European countries, to discuss prospects for future cooperation between Qatar and the European Union in the field of social work and finding sustainable solutions to tackle urgent social and economic challenges.

Nine People Killed, Including 3 Security Personnel in Attack on Hotel in Mogadishu

The Somali police announced that it had ended the siege of the Pearl Beach Hotel in Lido Beach, Mogadishu after killing all the seven attackers who belonged to Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Shabab movement.

Nine people, including 3 security personnel were killed, while 10 civilians were injured, Somali National News Agency (SONNA) reported, pointing out that the security forces managed to safely evacuate 84 civilians, including children and women from the hotel.

Earlier, Al-Shabab movement has claimed responsibility for the attack on the hotel.

Minister of Education Affirms Education is one of Core Pillars of Qatar National Vision to Build Knowledge-Based Economy

HE Minister of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi affirmed that education is one of the core pillars laid out in Qatar National Vision 2030 to build a diversified knowledge-based economy and provide a promising future to citizens through building a global educational system that offers exceptional opportunities and high quality training.

Addressing the International Forum of Education Ministers which was held in Kazan,Tatarstan under the theme of “Shaping the Future”, Her Excellency stressed the importance of cooperation and partnership to achieve a qualitative education for all, pointing out that teacher is the bedrock in the development of educational process.

HE Minister of Education talked about the program that was carried out by MoEHE to train and qualify teachers, especially in leveraging technology for education to support digital transformation, in pursuit of achieving quality in education.

She highlighted the exerted efforts, achievements and future aspirations in e-education, technical education, and vocational training.

On the margins of the forum, HE President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov met with HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi and discussed bilateral relations between the two countries in education sector and ways to support and develop them.

HE Minister of Education and Higher Education also met with HE Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov and HE Minister of Science and Higher Education in the Russian Federation Valery Falkov discussed with them cooperation aspects in education, higher education and scientific research.

HE Minister of Education and Higher Education headed the State of Qatar’s delegation at the forum that was held during Jun. 7-9, which was intended to discuss the most critical issues for the development of the education sector, provide an opportunity to exchange experiences and best practices in the field of technical and vocational education and training, formulate the directions of the global vision in building the future, and develop digital skills in the educational field in the context of digital transformation.
