HH the Amir, President of Singapore Witness Signing of Number of MOUs

HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the Republic of Singapore Halimah Yacob on Wednesday witnessed the signing of a number of memoranda of understanding (MOUs) between the two countries’ governments.

HH the Amir and HE the Singaporean President witnessed the signing of an MOU in the field of food security between the two countries’ governments, an MOU in the field of energy between the two countries’ governments, an MOU in the field of cyber security between the to governments and an MOU on implementing training programs for the Asian-Middle East Dialogue (AMED) States at the Qatar-based Regional Training Centre for Public Administration (RTCPA).

A lineup of Their Excellencies ministers and senior officials, attended the signing ceremony.

On the Singaporean side, it was attended by Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying HE the President.

HH the Amir Holds Official Talks Session with President of Singapore

HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE president of Republic of Singapore Halimah Yacob, held an official talks session at the Amiri Diwan Wednesday morning.

At the outset of the session, HH the Amir welcomed HE the Singaporean President and the accompanying delegation, wishing them a good stay and looking forwards for the visit to contribute to cementing bilateral cooperation relations to achieve the aspirations and interests of the two peoples.

For her part, HE the President of Singapore expressed her thanks and appreciation for HH the Amir for the good welcome and reception, expressing her hope that the visit can enhance bilateral cooperation to broader horizons in different spheres.

During the session, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to support and develop them in various fields of cooperation, especially energy, food security and education, in addition to discussing key regional and international developments of common concern.

The official talks session was attended by HE Chief of the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, HE Minister of Municipality Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al-Thani, HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, HE President of the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa and a number of senior officials.

On the Singaporean side, it was attended by HE Minister at Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Education and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman, HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth Low Yen Ling and a number of senior officials, members of the official delegation.

HH the Amir hosted a luncheon banquet on honor of HE president of Republic of Singapore Halimah Yacob and the accompanying delegation. (QNA) HE Singaporean President was accorded an official reception ceremony upon arrival at the Amiri Diwan.

MoPH, QU Highlight Latest Developments in Science of Behavioral Change

The Ministry of Public Health, in cooperation with Qatar University, recently organized a symposium at the university’s headquarters, entitled “Behavioral Insights: The Latest in the Science of Behavior Change”, with the aim of shedding light on the latest developments in the science of behavior change.

The organization of the symposium came as an affirmation of the importance of behavioral change in addressing critical public health issues, and as part of many other initiatives aimed at strengthening capabilities in behavioral insights within the health sector in the State of Qatar.

Commenting on the organization of the symposium, Assistant Minister of Public Health for Health Affairs Dr. Saleh Al Marri, said: “MoPH seeks to effectively address public health issues and empower individuals to make the right choices to live a healthy and positive life, we look forward to collaborating with academics, experts, and other stakeholders to shape the future of behavioral sciences inside and outside the country.” For her part, Dean of the College of Health Sciences at Qatar University Dr. Hanan Abdel Rahim, said: ” Human behavior is at the heart of today’s public health challenges. Human behavior is very complex, so we need the appropriate scientific tools and evidence base to understand what drives behaviors and how they can be changed to help people live healthier and more productive lives.” It should be noted that the global non-communicable disease pandemic has contributed to the importance of behavior change investigations as a critical tool in addressing the main determinants of ill health.

The Ministry of Public Health has been at the forefront of using behavioral sciences to promote healthy lifestyles, encourage healthy eating habits and regular physical activity, and address risk factors associated with communicable and non-communicable diseases such as COVID-19, influenza, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer.
