ADCDA, Rabdan Academy partner to enhance emergency and crisis management in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, 26th June, 2023 (WAM) — Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority (ADCDA) and Rabdan Academy have signed an agreement to strengthen their collaboration in enhancing the overall security, safety, and management of emergencies, crises, and disasters in Abu Dhabi. The initiative aims to foster joint programmes and research endeavours to enhance the training of national experts in emergency, crisis and disaster management. It also aims to further capacity for future foresight, enabling effective adaptation and response to evolving events and changes, incorporating the most up-to-date global practices and methodologies. The signing ceremony took place at ADCDA headquarters, witnessed by Brigadier General Salem Abdullah Bin Barak Al Dhaheri, Director-General of ADCDA, and James Morse, President of Rabdan Academy, along with representatives from both parties. This strategic partnership aims to facilitate the exchange of experiences, technologies, and services related to safety, security, defence, emergency preparedness, and crisis management (SSDEC). Additionally, the collaboration will provide technical and advisory services to develop joint programmes and research, contributing to the training of specialised national cadres in emergency, crisis and disaster management. Brigadier General Al Dhaheri said, “The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding represents the culmination of the ADCDA’s governmental and strategic objectives. It aims to enhance the ADCDA’s workforce by providing specialised national personnel and creating opportunities for their professional growth. The agreement facilitates the exchange of experiences, fosters the development of capabilities and skills, establishes a mechanism for designing joint training plans, and promotes collaboration in research and development within scientific and academic domains. Additionally, it facilitates the organisation of seminars, conferences, and joint workshops, as well as the provision of training courses.” Al Dhaheri said that partnering with Rabdan Academy would broaden the horizons for exchanging mutual benefits and leveraging the capabilities of both parties in enhancing work development, training, and consultancy. This collaboration embodies the vision of the ADCDA to strengthen relationships with strategic partners and elevate work standards in alignment with the Plan Abu Dhabi 2030. For his part, Morse said the partnership signified a new phase of cooperation between the two parties across various fields. He highlighted Rabdan Academy’s commitment to supporting institutions and individuals, enhancing national resilience, and developing specialised professionals in diverse sciences and strategic fields. Morse said, “We believe that Rabdan Academy and the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority share a common national message, and we have a lot to achieve together in the next stage. This agreement will serve as a framework for our strategic cooperation, uniting efforts to strengthen the principle of integrated emergency management.” The collaboration between the two parties will involve the exchange of best practices in emergency response and risk management, along with the transfer of technical and practical knowledge in training and development, risk analysis and evaluation, and the formulation of solutions and recommendations for foreseeable risks. The partnership aims to produce high-quality outputs, including scientific research, professional and academic programmes, training courses and specialised studies. These endeavours will enhance future foresight capabilities, enabling adaptive and responsive actions aligned with global best practices, methodologies and policies. The joint efforts will contribute to the development of professional development programmes specialising in the SSDEC domain, together with seminars and workshops to transfer knowledge and skills to various groups, ultimately enhancing national resilience.

Tadweer and Municipal Community Centre launch ‘My Sustainable City’ initiative

ABU DHABI, 26th June, 2023 (WAM) — Abu Dhabi Waste Management PJSC (Tadweer) and the Municipal Community Centre have launched the ‘My Sustainable City’ initiative to collect and transport green and bulky waste in Khalifa City and Mohamed Bin Zayed City. The initiative comes as part of the Abu Dhabi Programme for Effortless Customer Experience. Under the initiative, Tadweer will allocate two days a week, Sunday and Wednesday, across two months to transport green and bulky waste in the two localities. The initiative aims to promote proper and efficient disposal of waste to meet the needs of Tadweer’s customers. Ali Al Dhaheri, CEO of Tadweer, said, “We are delighted to launch My Sustainable City initiative as part of the Abu Dhabi Programme for Effortless Customer Experience. The initiative comes in line with Tadweer’s efforts to promote proper and effective waste management and establish Abu Dhabi’s global position as a sustainable city. The initiative reflects the solid relations between the two parties and their commitment to achieving the highest levels of public hygiene and promoting proper waste management and transportation practices, to preserve the visual aspect of our city.” The Abu Dhabi Programme for Effortless Customer Experience enables effortless customer experiences across Abu Dhabi and positions the emirate as a leader in the field. The pioneering new model is benchmarked against international standards. The launch of the new model followed a successful pilot phase in three government entities: the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), and Department of Community Development (DCD), which streamlined customer journeys by almost 50 per cent on average, enabling quicker completion times and fewer touchpoints.

Irbid’s Taybeh municipality names roundabout after girl victim of stray bullet

The Municipal Council on Taybeh Jadidah, west of Irbid, named a roundabout square in the center of Deir as-Sa’na town after Bailsan Senjalawi, a girl victim who was killed by a stray bullet eight years ago. Bailsan, back then less than 2 years old, died when she took a stray bullet while she was with her family and in her father’s lap in a public park south of Irbid, and the incident was recorded against an unknown person. Mahmoud Hayajneh, A member of Taybeh Municipality Council, said that the municipality’s initiative, launched during the council meeting on Monday, comes as an affirmation and a reminder of the rejection of shooting bullets during occasions and weddings, in which innocent people fall victim.

Special Olympics UAE athletes secure 73 medals at World Games Berlin 2023

ABU DHABI, 26th June, 2023 (WAM) –The UAE has won 73 medals at the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023, with 18 gold medals, 22 silver medals, and 33 bronze medals. The UAE participated at the Games, held from June 17 to 25, with the largest delegation from the Middle East and North Africa region, comprising 167 individuals, including 72 athletes of determination with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and 31 unified partners, competed in 20 different sports. A strong start at the Games Special Olympics UAE athletes had a strong start on day one, securing multiple medals, including a gold in gymnastics. The next gold medals were delivered by athletes Ghanem Al Memari and Nejood Binhidarah in roller skating. Judo player, Roudha Al Ahbabi, won her first bronze in the 100-kilogram category, after intensive training under the supervision of her Japanese coach, Koki Uchida. Zayed Al Kaabi, who had his first World Games participation in Berlin, won bronze in tennis. Veteran swimmer Omar Al Shami secured first place and won the 200-meter freestyle gold medal, and Alia Al Muhairi won first place in the 25-meter freestyle event. Four other bronze medals were won by Special Olympics UAE swimmers across various events and powerlifting athletes also secured two bronze medals. Asma Ali won gold and Hareb Anbar won bronze in athletics. In roller skating, Sayah Al-Habash won another gold medal, and Nejood Binhidarah finished fourth. In cycling, two athletes won two silvers and two bronzes. In equestrian sports, Mahra Al Kaabi came second and Mahmoud Jaroor, won a silver medal in bocce. In Tennis, the women’s unified doubles team won a silver medal. In badminton, athletes Zakeya Al Maazmi and Hassan Al Balooshi won the gold medal, and the unified golf team won the silver medal. In team competitions, the unified beach volleyball team (men) won the gold medal, and the unified volleyball team (women) won the silver after a strong performance against India. The unified basketball team (men) won the gold medal, after an upbeat match against China. On the sidelines of the Games, the UAE became a founding member of the International Global Leadership Coalition for Inclusion, a pioneering multilateral effort to support people with intellectual disabilities. Coalition members committed to supporting the expansion of inclusive sports and education opportunities to over 2 million young people in more than 150,000 schools and scaling Special Olympics programming to 180 nations. Additionally, the Global Athlete Congress was held, where 60 global projects were presented. The Middle East and North Africa region participated in its activities with a presentation of 10 projects from the UAE, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Bahrain, Oman, Morocco, Tunisia, and Kuwait. The project presented by the UAE focused on establishing unified clubs that include people of determination and their peers in 20 schools.

Crimes of US-Saudi aggression on June 26

The US-Saudi-Emirati aggression and its mercenaries targeted the infrastructure, government buildings, citizens’ houses, archaeological sites, and mosques, killing and injuring and causing massive destruction in the country.

On June 26, 2015, the aggression warplanes targeted Jawf province with a number of raids, the triangle area in the central al-Hazm market in al-Hazm city, and a number of citizens’ houses in the region, causing severe damage. The aggression warplanes launched six raids on the vicinity of the government complex and al-Shabika area, causing material damage.

Two citizens were killed and ten others were wounded in raids by hostile air forces on the historic Fort of al-Sharaf and the mosque adjacent to it in the city of Mahabesha in Hajjah province during Friday prayers, leading destruction of parts of the fort, houses and the mosque.

The aggression warplanes also launched eight raids on al-Mujabar area in Haradh district, burning a small camel of a citizen and damage to a tourist hotel.

The aggression warplanes launched a number of raids on al-Saqr Sports Club and the old airport in Taiz city, causing significant damage to buildings and citizens’ houses.

The aggression warplanes hit al-Jedaan area and Wadi al-Jafena in Marib province with a series of raids, leading damage to a number of citizens’ houses.

In 2016, five citizens were killed in two raids of the aggression’s warplanes on al-Qanzi Junction in al-Arush area, Khawlan al-Tayyal district in Sana’a province .

The aggression warplanes launched a raid on Jabal al-Ashqari and a raid on the center of Serwah district in Marib province, and targeted with two raids al-Omari area in the city of Dhubab in the Bab al-Mandab district in Taiz province .

The mercenaries of the aggression bombed the eastern neighborhoods of Taiz city with artillery, rocket-propelled grenades, and heavy and medium weapons, al-Jahmaliya area, leading damage to many houses, private property, and public facilities.

The hostile aircraft launched two raids on Hareeb Nihm and a raid on al-Majaweha in Nihm district of Sana’a province, while the mercenaries targeted, with missile strikes, Riman area in the same district.

The aggression’s warplanes launched a raid on the house of the citizen Mohammed Jazem in Najd Damran area in Qabaita district of Lahj province, and several raids on Karesh district and Shuraijah area in Qabaita.

On June 26, 2017, three citizens, including a child, were killed and seven others were injured in an air raid on al-Shawareq area in Razih district in Sa’ada province, while citizen Jaber Ali al-Hamzi was wounded by enemy artillery shelling on Ghafira area in al-Dhaher district.

The Saudi army launched a missile and artillery bombardment on al-Ghor area in Ghamer district. The warplanes launched three raids on Marran area in Haydan district and five raids on al-Masahif and al-Sabhan areas in Baqim district, while two children were injured in a bomb explosion left over by the aggression in Bani Moath area in Sahar district.

The aggression warplanes launched a raid on Ham area in al-Mutun district of Jawf province, two raids on Jabal Nabada and a raid on Mawza district in Taiz province . The warplanes also launched a raid on a walled area and another on al-Ashraf area in Nihm district of Sana’a province, and a raid on the city of al-Rabua’a in Asir region.

On this day in the year 2018, nine citizens were killed and 11 others were wounded in a raid by the aggression on a bus carrying displaced people between al-Jarrahi and Zabid in Hodeida province, and five raids targeted Jabal al-Arish area in Jabal Ras district.

The aggression warplanes launched three raids on al-Sahi area in Karesh district of Lahj province, two raids on alaf and al-Azqul areas in Sahar district, a raid on Sheda district, and two raids on Taibat al-Esm area in Ketaf district of Sa’ada province .

The aggression warplanes also launched a raid on Himyar area in Maqbana district in Taiz province .

On June 26, 2019, a girl was killed by snipers of the aggression’s mercenaries in al-Maslab area of al-Tuhaita district, Hodeida province , and the mercenaries targeted Hays city with mortars and medium machine guns.

In Sa’ada province , the aggression warplanes launched two raids on al-Qarrad area in Baqim district, which was subjected to Saudi missile and artillery bombardment that targeted the citizens’ properties and houses, while the warplanes launched four raids on al-Rabua’a in Asir region.

The aggression warplanes launched a raid on al-Azab area in Qataba district in Dhale province, and a raid on Mawiyah district in Taiz province.

In 2020, the aggression warplanes hit Qaniya district and al-Suwadiya district with ten raids, al-Bayda province, and launched eight raids on the districts of Dhi Naem, Nati`, and Radman, and a raid near Isolation health center in Afar customs.

The aggression warplanes also launched four raids on Hayran district, a raid on Haradh district in Hajjah province, and 13 raids on separate areas in Majzar district of Marib province, causing damage to public and private property.

In Hodeida province, the mercenaries bombed separate areas with 90 artillery shells and live bullets, and bombed with heavy and medium weapons several neighborhoods Hodeida city, and targeted with artillery and various machine guns the homes and farms of citizens in al-Jabalia area of al-Tuhaita district.

Two houses were burned in the mercenaries’ shelling with heavy and medium weapons on the city of al-Durayhimi.

The aggression warplanes launched a raid on al-Fara district in Ketaf district, and a raid on al-Dhaher district in Sa’ada province, and also launched a raid south of al-Mazhet junction in Harf Sufyan district, Amran province .

On June 26, 2021, four citizens, including children, were injured after being targeted by a mortar shell by the mercenaries of the aggression in al-Nasiri in al-Tuhaita district, Hodeida province , and the mercenaries created combat fortifications in Hays and al-Durayhimi, and bombed with 89 artillery shells and various bullets several areas in the province , while the spy planes launched six Raids on Kilo 16, al-Faza and al-Jabaliya areas.

A citizen was killed by Saudi border guard fire in the Al-Raqo area of the border district of Munabbih in Saada governorate, while the warplanes launched a raid on the Al-Zahir district in the same governorate, two raids on the Khub Washa`af district in Al-Jawf governorate, and two raids on the Nati` district in Al-Bayda governorate.

The hostile air force launched ten raids on the Serwah district and three raids on the Medghal, Raghwan and Rahba districts in Ma’rib governorate.

On this day in the year 2022, the mercenaries of the aggression created combat fortifications in the vicinity of the city of Ma’rib, the Defense Hill in Jizan, the Bekaa, and the Hammad Square in Najran, and in the south of Haradh district in Hajjah governorate.

The mercenaries opened fire on citizens’ houses and several areas in the provinces of Marib, Taiz, Hajjah, Sa’ada, Dhale, Bayda and the border fronts, and targeted, with intense artillery shelling, al-Balq al-Sharqi and Mala’a in Marib province, Haradh and Bani Hassan in Hajjah province, the burial grounds, al-Malahidh, Razih and Munabeh in Sa’ada province, and al-Sakhra area in Asir region and Twillaq mount and al-Amud in Wadi Jarah in Jizan, and al-Kanab al-Qadem in Jizan region.

Summer courses in capital Sana’a in 1444 …Success and distinction that exceeded expectations

The summer courses in 1444 AH in the capital Sana’a had witnessed a qualitative success and unparalleled distinction, which contributed to absorbing thousands of children, boys and girls in various schools.

This came out of the interest and keenness of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council to educate young people of the Quranic approach and the values and principles of faith so as to build a generation armed with science, knowledge, insight and awareness.

The level of success of the summer courses in the capital Sana’a and other Yemen’s provinces embodied the growing awareness of the community and parents and their eagerness to immunize their children intellectually, educationally, culturally and physically, and invest the school vacation time in enlightening them, expanding their perceptions and developing their skills through the various activities and programs offered by the summer courses.

Conversely, the increase in the number of enrollment in summer courses year after year as a result of the fruits and positive effects that the community sees that benefit their children in terms of memorizing the Holy Qur’an, building their cognitive and faith abilities and skills, acquiring useful sciences, and consolidating the spirit of belonging to the homeland and their faith identity.

The Sub-Committee on Activities and Summer Courses in the capital Sana’a stated that more than 880 open, exemplary and closed summer courses and schools were held, distributed among the districts and received 110,000 students, in addition to the teaching and educational staff and workers.

Interaction exceeded expectations:

The summer courses this year were characterized by great interaction and a qualitative attendance of students that exceeded expectations, in response to the call of the leader of the revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, and an embodiment of the responsibility to build an educated Quranic generation and immunize it from deviation and the dangers of soft war and destructive cultures spread by enemies to target and corrupt them.

The summer courses culminated in holding ceremonies and a central closing event in the presence of the President of the Supreme Political Council, and witnessed a solemn scout show in which thousands of students participated from various summer courses in the capital Sana’a and Sana’a province, in the presence of the Prime Minister, a number of ministers.

The Capital Sana’a also witnessed closing and honoring events for the distinguished students and teachers and those in charge of the courses in the districts under the slogan “Education and Jihad” and honoring them and the supporters and contributors from the community and the authorities in making the summer courses’ activities a success at this honorable level.

The scouting activities and performances reflected the creative skills and abilities of the students, their superiority, the level of achievement and the scientific and cognitive qualification they received during their enrollment in the summer courses, in addition to developing and refining their various talents.

The programs and activities highlighted examples of Quran readings, prophetic hadiths, public speaking, recitation, poetry, chanting and theatrical performances, highlighting the talents and creativity of the participants in various fields.

Good fruits:

Senior Undersecretary of the Capital Sana’a – Chairman of the Sub-Committee for Summer Courses Khaled al-Madani praised the level of success of the open, model and closed courses for this year in the districts of the capital Sana’a and the good fruits and outputs they achieved for the students participating in them.

Al-Madani emphasized that this success translates the directives of the revolutionary leadership, and at the same time reflects the level of awareness, official and societal interest, and the keenness of parents to enlighten their children with the guidance of Allah, the Quranic and faith culture, and arm them with knowledge, the prophet’s values and morals.

He appreciated the efforts made by the teachers and those in charge of the summer courses and the excellence of the students, as well as the wide official and community participation that achieved honorable success and good fruits.

Al-Madani referred to the objectives of the summer courses, in caring for the younger generation and providing it with science, valuable knowledge, insight and awareness, as it is considered a weapon for the nation in confronting its enemies and thwarting their conspiracies.

Intensive activities and distinguished outputs:

With the aim of achieving the greatest benefit for those enrolled in the summer courses and expanding their outcomes and fruits in various fields, the map of activities and programs has expanded, which were not limited to religious, cultural, educational and sports sciences only, but also included professional, technical, agricultural, environmental, health and social events and activities, as well as qualifying and skill courses.

The activities included competitions in memorizing and reciting the Noble Quran for male and female students, and organizing the second summer forum for the gifted, in which 700 students competed in the fields of “poetry and drawing and inventions, story and narration, theater, chanting, rhetoric and folklore.”

On the sidelines of the activities of the summer courses, exhibitions and bazaars for handicrafts, creative works and innovations for students were held, sports tournaments, competitions, games, recreational and familiarization trips and scout camps were organized, prizes and symbolic gifts were presented to creators, outstanding students and teachers, and participation in the implementation of service and agricultural initiatives, hygiene and traffic regulation, among others.

Director General of the Office of Education in the capital Sana’a – Vice-Chairman of the Sub-Committee for Summer Courses Abdulqadir al-Mahdi explained that the total activities and events implemented amounted to more than 145,536 activities at the level of summer schools in all districts, within the framework of the plan to expand activities and programs for the year 1444 AH.

He stated that the activities included the implementation of more than six thousand visits to the official side, and more than 29 thousand and 500 visits from the community in the districts, which included community initiatives and various convoys to support cadres and students and the distribution of baskets, foodstuffs, sums of money, clothes and sports supplies.
