ABU DHABI, 28th August, 2023 (WAM) — Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) has introduced enhanced international transfer features on its mobile app and internet banking. The improvements come as the bank reports a notable 20% year-on-year increase in remittances during H1 2023. As the first bank in the UAE to offer exclusive discounts on remittance payments using Promo Codes, ADIB aims to transform the app into a one-stop solution for any remittance. After implementing the feature, the bank saw an additional 2,000 customers utilise the mobile app for sending remittances. Further enhancements are in the works to add features such as transfer to wallet, transfer to card, extending the instant transfer capabilities to 60+ countries, and adding 80+ currencies for sending remittances to 200+ countries. Approximately 95% of the bank’s remittances occur through digital channels, with most of those transfers directed to the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Additionally, remittances to India are processed instantly or within the same day at the latest, further enhancing the convenience and efficiency of customers. The Eastern Military Zone on Sunday shot down a drone trespassing into Jordanian land from Syrian territory. An official military source at the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army said that border guards, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotic Department, found the drone and transferred it to the authorities. The Jordanian armed forces are taking strong and resolute measures against any threat on the border and any attempt to disrupt or destabilize the security of the country and intimidate its citizens, the source reiterated.

The Jordan Seismological Observatory early Monday reported a seismic event measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale. The earthquake was centered in the northeastern vicinity of Dhiban, a city located within the Madaba Governorate. According to the observatory’s data, the tremor was registered precisely at 3:09 AM local time, at a depth of approximately 7 kilometers beneath the Earth’s surface. The event is categorized as a minor earthquake, falling within the lower range of seismic intensity. Consequently, its effects were likely perceivable only by individuals residing in proximity to the epicenter.

The Governor of Hodeida, Muhammad Qahim, inspected the progress of work in the first phase of the project to establish the Greatest Prophet Center for the Treatment and Surgery of Oncology in the Medical City in Hodeida.

Governor Qahim was briefed on the nature of the work of the first phase of the project, which cost more than seven million dollars, and in which work was launched recently, funded and supervised by the Cancer Control Fund.

The governor of Hodeida indicated the importance of the oncology treatment and surgery project to alleviate the suffering of patients with cancer who face severe financial difficulties in traveling to the capital, Sana’a, to receive treatment.

The Supreme Judicial Council, in its weekly meeting on Monday, chaired by Judge Ahmed Yahya Al-Mutawakel, listened to the report of the Minister of Justice, Chairman of the Higher Institute for Judiciary, on the admission and registration procedures at the institute.

The Council discussed the report submitted by the Justice Minister on the performance of the Higher Judicial Institute for the past year 1444 AH, and the level of implementation of the operational goals according to the Institute’s annual plan and approved the report.

In its meeting, the Council also approved the operational plan of the Public Prosecution for the year 1445 AH, based on the memorandum of the Attorney General, and recommended the implementation of the plan according to the available capabilities.
