National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority announces guidelines for Ramadan Iftar tent set-up

ABU DHABI, 14th March, 2022 (WAM) –The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), in coordination with its main partners, has announced the protocol governing the setup of Iftar tents during the Holy Month of Ramadan, this year.

This comes in line with the national strategy to maintain public health and safety in light of the resumption of various public activities, and in support of the tireless efforts made at the country level to achieve sustainable recovery and restore normalcy.

Prior permits to set up Iftar tents have to be obtained from the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) according to the protocol, with local committees and NCEMA teams in each emirate being authorised to approve the setup of these tents, define the numbers of participants for each one, and determine their locations in coordination with the ERC.

According to the protocol, Iftar tents must be designed in the form of a canopy that is open from all sides or be air-conditioned in addition to incorporating all required safety and protection systems.

Tent capacity shall be determined by the local committees and teams of each emirate, with the participants to remain at least 1 metre apart, while ensuring the provision of security guards or volunteers to organise the entry and exit process. This is in addition to providing posters for all entrances and exits, and avoiding handshakes during greetings.

Iftar tents should open two hours before the time of Iftar (Maghrib call to prayer), to avoid congestion, with the mandatory application of the Green Pass system according to the rules in place by each emirate. Iftar tent organisers or personnel are to provide masks and sterilisation tools and to direct people to adhere to all precautionary and preventive measures, including mask-wearing, physical distancing, and constant hand sterilisation.

Using disposable table covers is mandatory, according to the protocol which also recommended disposable plates, cups and spoons for each individual while ensuring people sit one meter apart on dining tables.

NCEMA noted that all measures announced in the current protocol are subject to modification based on the global and local health situation, and called on the public to cooperate and adhere to Covid-19 pandemic countermeasures in order to maintain the post COVID-19 recovery gains secured by the country.

Bybit and Art Dubai meet at the intersection of digital art forms and human creativity amidst the paradigm shift of our times. Artists and creatives are no strangers to digital innovations and the blurring of boundaries between visions and realities, with roots in digital artistry going back to the 1980s. The global pandemic has accelerated the building of new worlds and the coming together of new artistic communities in the digital space.

The new Art Dubai Digital section brings to life art forms transcending conventional constraints. Showcasing 17 presentations from both traditional galleries and digitally native ones, the digital section gives a voice to emerging artists and market participants, many of whom are first-timers at an international art fair.

Art lovers looking to experience the art or support an artist can join the fair through the Bybit NFT Marketplace, now offering 15 artworks from the participating galleries of Art Dubai.

Art Dubai 2022 also presents Bybit Talks, a new addition to facilitate dialogues between the crypto space and the art world to make crypto, web3 digital practices and NFTs concepts and opportunities more accessible to the public.

NFTs are one of the new tools to reinvent and rewire the art market, and a new generation of artists and art patrons are drawn to a new parallel world that rewards authenticity and the imaginative minds,” said Igneus Terrenus, Head of Communications at Bybit.

“There are two important legs in the projects. We have galleries from the physical world and galleries that only exist in the metaverse. And to complement these and help understand what they’re going to be showcasing, we have one of the most exciting educational programs today, among them is Bybit Talks by Bybit, the sponsor of the digital section, and the Global Art Forum,” said Pablo del Val, Artistic Director of Art Dubai at the opening address.

“In the last two years, the 3D world lost approximately half a dimension. At the same time, new multiple dimensions have been discovered online. We are now extensions of our devices and this changes everything. It’s the kind of paradigm shift that civilization sees every few 100 years. We’ve been going through these changes arguably for the last 30 years and now in a more and more accelerated manner, evidenced in the mainstreaming of crypto, blockchain technologies and NFTs over just the last year. In the two and a half dimension, digital artifacts and crypto economies are as real or unreal as anything else. And there’s such rapid growth in digital platforms, it’s often difficult to keep track even for seasoned insiders. So the Bybit talks will explore the unknown past and the possible futures of NFT, how our ideas and experiences of media buy change with decentralized institutions, and what kind of values beyond merely the monetary is at stake with these new technologies,” remarked Shumon Basar, Commissioner, Global Art Forum.

DEWA completes construction of 1st stage of world’s largest aquifer storage and recovery project

DUBAI, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has completed the construction of the first stage of the Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) project for desalinated water and has started the operations and testing stage.

The full scale of the ASR project can store up to 6,000 million imperial gallons of water once completed by 2025 as a strategic reserve. This makes it the largest ASR of its kind in the world to store potable water and retrieve it in case of an emergency. This will secure the Emirate with an additional source of potable water strategic reserve of 50MIGD for 90 days in emergencies, while ensuring the quality of the stored water.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said that the new project supports DEWA’s efforts to increase the storage capacity of Dubai to reach 7212 MIG in 2025 when compared to the present storage capacity of 822 MIG.

“We support the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to provide a state-of-the-art, integrated, and resilient infrastructure of electricity and water in Dubai according to the highest standards of availability, reliability, efficiency and safety. This helps to ensure meeting the rapidly growing demand for water across different areas in Dubai for all citizens, residents and visitors. Besides the ASR project, DEWA is working on a 120 MIG reservoir in Al Nakhali and another 60 MIG reservoir in Al Lusaily,” added Al Tayer.

The ASR project increases the sustainable production of water in Dubai. It uses clean solar power to desalinate seawater using the latest Reverse Osmosis (RO) technologies. Excess water is stored in aquifers and pumped back into the water network when needed. The cost of this innovative integrated model is less than the cost of traditional reservoirs, and is a sustainable, eco-friendly, economical solution. It also emphasises Dubai’s ability to anticipate and shape the future.

The production capacity of desalinated water of DEWA is currently 490 MIGD, including 63MIGD using Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) technology. By 2030, SWRO will help expand its production capacity to 303 MIGD, increasing it to 730 MIGD of desalinated water by 2030.

Global brands launch yachts at Dubai International Boat Show 2022

DUBAI, Three luxury yachts debuted this weekend at Dubai Harbour as part of the ongoing Dubai International Boat Show 2022 as the world’s leading brands and exhibitors raced to present their nautical handiwork to this year’s crowds at the Middle East’s largest and most-popular leisure marine event.

The 28th edition of the five-day event, which finishes on Sunday, saw De Antonio Yachts, a Barcelona-based boat manufacturer, and EVO Yachts, a brand from Blu Emme Yachts, reveal their latest vessels to the public for the first time at Dubai Harbour, the Middle East’s largest marina.

EVO Yachts, following the recent partnership announcement with regional dealer EVO Yachts Dubai, debuted its EVO R4 unit with unique interiors over the weekend. ‘Like something from a Transformers movie’, the Evo R4 is the newest version of the extensible yacht Evo 43, a fast 13m day-cruiser with sleek, sculpted contours and two Volvo IPS 650 engines.

Speaking from the show, Marcus Giltay, Managing Director, EVO Yachts Dubai, said, “The quality of visitors to our stand has been excellent and as of now we already have three to four potential buyers, which is fantastic. Dubai is the perfect platform to launch our boats as the clientele here love technology and gadgets, but also super high quality, which describes our vessels to a tee.”

Since its launch, EVO 43’s revolutionary ‘XTension’ bulwarks have sparked wide attention, opening hydraulically in less than 30 seconds to increase usable deck space by 40% and turn the cockpit into a 25sqm terrace.

Meanwhile, De Antonio Yachts launched its D50 Open, a 50ft yacht with two, three, or four hidden outboard engines and built on the award-winning D46 Open hull. With a top speed of 50 knots and a maximum power of 1800hp, the exclusive yacht provides what De Antonio Yachts claims to be unrivalled navigation efficiency.

The yacht can be ordered with two or three rooms, one of which can be converted into a skipper cabin and has a customisable interior layout. Similarly, the interior can include two or three bathrooms, making it a great match for each owner’s needs. A 2.5-metre saltwater jacuzzi in the bow will be the envy of all.

Elsewhere, De Antonio Yachts’ D46 Cruiser, another nautical marvel, was also launched this weekend and is aimed at the most sophisticated and demanding shipowners. The D46 Cruiser is a motorboat with a spacious deck, large aft sundecks, and a large central lounge area, all of which are sheltered by a sleek retractable roof cabin that comfortably seats up to 12 people.

The yacht has a spacious interior with one, two, or three cabins and is fuelled by powerful hidden outboard engine configurations that deliver unrivalled performance with minimal maintenance.

“The Dubai International Boat Show attracts the perfect clientele for our target market,” said Ali Batterjee, Marine Division Manager at Samaco Marine & Power Sports – regional distributor for De Antonio Yachts. “We are consecutively launching the brand in three markets, Australia, United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait, so being here at the central point of the three is fantastic.”

Dubai International Boat Show 2022 took place from 9th-13th March at Dubai Harbour.
