World Athletics Championships Tokyo 2025 Logo Revealed

The organizing committee of the 20th World Athletics Championships (Tokyo 2025) revealed on Monday the logo for the championship, which will be held from Sep. 13-21, 2025.

The design was chosen by a committee that included design experts, athletes, and a number of community members, who voted for the winning design after a competition that included 368 designs.

According to the organizing committee, the winning design includes the phrase (The World – Tokyo – Communication) in reference to the Japanese capital’s embrace of athletes from all over the world, and it also reflects Japanese civilization and traditions.

Tokyo surpassed the cities of Singapore, Nairobi and Silesia (Poland), which applied to host the tournament in its 20th edition.

This is the second time that Tokyo has hosted the World Championship, after the first in 1991.

HH the Amir Volleyball Cup: Al Rayyan Face Qatar SC in Decisive Match for Final Spot

Doha: Al Rayyan and Qatar SC will clash on Tuesday in a tiebreaker match to determine the second finalist for the 46th edition of the HH the Amir Volleyball Cup for Men for the 2023-2024 season. The match will be held at the Qatar Volleyball Association Hall.

Al Rayyan, the league runner-up and Qatar Cup runner-up, drew with Qatar SC in the semi-final home-and-away matches, necessitating a tiebreaker match to determine the team that will advance to the final.

In the first leg, Qatar SC defeated Al Rayyan in a thrilling 3-2 victory, while Al Rayyan bounced back in the second leg with a convincing 3-0 win.

Police SC had already secured their place in the final, scheduled for May 17, after defeating league and Qatar Cup champions Al Arabi in both semi-final legs by a score of 3-1.

Qatar to Host FIP World Padel Championships in October

Doha: The International Padel Federation (FIP) and the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel and Badminton Federation announced that Qatar will host the 17th edition of the FIP World Padel Championships.

The Championships will be held at Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex from October 28 to November 2, 2024.

The flagship FIP bi-annual event will see 16 national teams across both the mens and womens categories have the opportunity to participate in the pinnacle national team padel tournament in Doha later this year.

The 17th FIP World Padel Championships will have Prize Money of 500,000 euros, to be equally distributed between men and women to all countries qualified for the final stage.

Qatar was selected to host this years tournament based on a range of leading criteria, including but not limited to the world-class quality of the sporting facilities, the player conditions and support, major events delivery experience, security, financial surety, geographic location and sporting heritage.

34th AFC Congress to Convene on Thursday

The 34th Congress of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will be held on Thursday in Bangkok, Thailand.

The AFC Congress will elect two new members to the AFC Executive Committee for the remainder of the 2023 to 2027 term. Additionally, the AFC Lifetime Achievement and Distinguished Service Awards will be presented, with the recipients to be announced after the 4th AFC Executive Committee meeting, scheduled for May 15, 2024.

The 34th AFC Congress will also vote on the Audited Financial Statements and Auditors’ Report for the year 2023, which saw the AFC deliver its full suite of world-class competitions as well as landmark education, development, technical and refereeing programmes for the benefit of its MAs and Regional Associations (RAs) and decide on the proposals which were received from several Member Associations to amend/remove certain provisions of the AFC Statutes.

oha, Qatar, earlier this year, will be highlighted.

The AFC will also be unveiling the new brand and identities of the Confederation’s revamped men’s three-tier club competitions and the breakthrough AFC Women’s Champions League at a special ceremony.

Al Shaqab Organizes Al Farrisa Show Jumping Event May 17

Doha: Al Shaqab, a member of Qatar Foundation, will organize a new edition of Al Farrisa – ladies’ show jumping event – at the Longines Indoor Arena on May 17, from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

In a statement on Monday, Al Shaqab welcomed all women and girls, as well as boys under 10 years old; noting that the event will feature a dedicated section for local Qatari workshop activations, aiming to foster engagement among female creatives, providing them with a unique space to explore and network.

Al Shaqab launched Al Farrisa in March 2023 for girls aged 14 years and above – the target age for this competition.

‘Move Your World’ Summer Campaign by Saudi Sports for All Federation Aims to Encourage Regular Physical Activity


Riyadh: The Saudi Sports for All Federation has said that its 2024 summer campaign “Move Your World” aims to determine and address challenges hindering people from engaging in physical activities.

The federation conducted a survey of men and women across the Kingdom and identified various such obstacles and difficulties. The campaign aims to identify obstacles and challenges preventing people from engaging in physical activities, encourage individuals to overcome these challenges, make physical activity part of their daily routine, and create an environment encouraging sports.

The campaign gathers adult citizens’ and of residents’ opinions in an effort to find the main reasons preventing them from practicing sports or other physical activities regularly.

One common reason for 46% of those polled is lack of time. Others, making up some 14%, pointed to health, disabilities, or injuries, about 13% cited social or family obligations, and 8% fear of injury.

The federation aims to raise awareness among various
segments of society about the benefits of physical activity, and help overcome the issues hindering it.

The Move Your World campaign will continue throughout the summer, aiming to motivate people across the Kingdom to participate in weekly challenges via the Saudi Sports for All Federation application, and highlight how important physical activity is for all individuals.
