Today, we begin a new 50 years that commenced with the opening of Expo 2020 Dubai, a special edition by all standards.

In this historic moment, the UAE, its wise leadership and people are recalling the legacy instilled by the Founder of its renaissance, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, which the wise leadership has sustained and aims to accomplish much more.

After eight years of hard work and all possible efforts by distinguished national teams that reflected the mind and talent of the Emiratis, this global event has resulted, spanning over 4.38 km, which mirrors the UAE’s global stature.

While celebrating the opening of this international event that brings together the culture and achievements of the world, the UAE is fully confident of its capabilities and potential to organise an exceptional edition.

Expo 2020 Dubai embodies UAE’s prominent regional, international stature: Anwar Gargash

ABU DHABI, Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said the significant global presence at the Expo 2020 Dubai highlights the country’s prominent regional and international stature, as well as its role in driving growth and development.

In his statement on the launch of the expo, he stressed it is a platform for celebrating international humanitarian cooperation, highlighting the world’s ability to overcome challenges and turn them into developmental opportunities through forging partnerships and alliances that encourage innovation and promote hope and positivity.

“In the UAE, we aim to offer a different narrative about our region by focussing on opportunities, diversity, positive thinking and optimism, as well as changing the stereotypes about our region that emphasise conflicts,” he added.

“We are proud to host a global event that focuses on connecting people and reinforcing their cooperation. The need for this proactive approach was confirmed by the dire circumstances that faced the world over the past two years, which showed that solidarity and cooperation is our way of shaping a better future for humanity. The UAE aims to support this approach by showcasing innovative ideas and advanced technologies, in addition to reinforcing the role of the youth and forging partnerships,” he further added.

Pakistan Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai unveils business and cultural events

DUBAI, Pakistan Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai has released its October calendar of business and cultural events focusing on one of the country’s wonders, Balochistan.

Pakistan’s Federal Board of Investment will hold a seminar on the Electric Vehicle Policy on 5th October, while on 6th October, a session on climate change will be held with Malik Amin, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Climate Change. This session will voice the Clean Green Pakistan initiative in order to encourage the nationwide cleanliness and tree plantation drive. The schedule aims to show the world a typically unseen part of Pakistan and encourage tourism and investment into the country.

Further events aim to educate the younger generations about their role in climate change and how to continue the progress currently in action.

Pakistan Pavilion will also be heavily focusing on their “Invest in Pakistan Campaign”. Multiple business events will be held in which government entities, entrepreneurs, and SMEs will be projecting their opportunities. This initiative is highly prioritised throughout the agenda and will be highlighted through further panel sessions, seminars, and lectures.

Expo 2020 Dubai launch to be live streamed in Times Square

DUBAI, New York residents will enjoy a timeless opportunity to watch a live stream of the Expo 2020 Dubai launch through the digital screens in Times Square.

Between 20:30 and 21:30 (12:30-1:30 NYC), the event’s opening ceremony will be featured on the 37-metre high Nasdaq Tower screen and seven of the screens on the 22-storeys tall Thomson Reuters sign, through a live stream provided by Expo 2020 Dubai organisers.

The opening ceremony will take place beneath the 130-metre-wide, 67.5-metre-tall Al Wasl Plaza dome, the world’s largest 360-degree projection screen, which will enable spectators to experience an immersive audio and visual display of the featured live performances.

WAM delivers Expo 2020 Dubai’s message to world in 19 languages

ABU DHABI, The Emirates News Agency (WAM) will be providing around-the-clock coverage of Expo 2020 Dubai through its various media and digital platforms to keep the world tuned in to the launch of the world’s most important cultural event happening first time in the Middle East, with the participation of over 190 countries.

Expo ‘Visions and Journeys’ to host inspiring female personalities

DUBAI, Expo 2020 Dubai will host a number of influential women from across the globe who specialise in various sectors as part of the ‘Visions and Journeys’ initiative. The sessions will be take place at the Women’s Pavilion and are part of Expo 2020’s commitment to highlight women and gender balance related topics.

The sessions will be held throughout the period of Expo 2020. October will witness eleven women figures, including ministers, international officials and first ladies. Speakers will include: Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary-General of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie; Natasa Pilide, Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry; Ndeye Saly Diop Dieng, Minister of Women, Family and Gender of Senegal; Simonetta Di Pippo, Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs; Erika Mouynes, Minister of Foreign Affairs in Panama; Dr. Ferencz Orsolya, Ministerial Commissioner for Space Research in Hungary; Ms. Fazna Ahmed, First Lady of the Maldives; and Marie-Celine Zialo, Minister for Youth, Sports & Family in Seychelles.

Shamsa Saleh, Secretary-General of the UAE Gender Balance Council, said: “The ‘Visions and Journeys’ sessions serve as an important platform for knowledge exchange between female figures and visitors during Expo 2020 as well as aligning with the broader themes and goals of the global event. She added: “Through this partnership, Expo 2020 Dubai and the UAE Gender Balance Council will seek to enhance awareness around this topic , as well as shed light on the UAE’s success in supporting women and their achievements across sectors over the past 50 years.”
