Mansour bin Zayed chairs Ministerial Development Council meeting

ABU DHABI, Chaired by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, the Ministerial Development Council held its meeting at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, addressing a number of policies and legislations to further advance the government work ecosystem.

The meeting discussed initiatives and policies aimed at developing the UAE’s export sector and government housing projects, in addition to federal legislations related to the health sector.

The meeting also discussed the issuance of Cabinet decisions on the organisation of the advocacy and legal consultancy sector, and consumer protection affairs.

The Council reviewed a number of government reports for the year 2022 regarding the development of UAE exports, the work of the Medical Liability Supreme Committee, and developments in foreign direct investment (FDI), in addition to an update on the implementing of the national agenda for outward FDI.

Saif bin Zayed meets Secretary of Interior and Local Government of Philippines

DUBAI, H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, today met with Benjamin Abalos Jr., Secretary of the Interior and Local Government of the Philippines, on the sidelines of the World Government Summit in Dubai.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed several topics of mutual interest, in addition to ways of boosting cooperation between the two countries in the fields of police and security.

They also elaborated on the World Government Summit and its role in enhancing governments’ efforts in the development of societies, prosperity and growth.

UAE President and Mohammed bin Rashid attend key session addressed by the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund

DUBAI, In the presence of President of the UAE His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of Egypt, Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) delivered an address at a session held on the first day of the World Government Summit (WGS) 2023 on Monday.

Also present at the session were H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai; H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah; and a number of dignitaries and senior officials.

Georgieva said the UAE economy is one of the most efficient in the world in terms of its leading performance amid the current challenges. She attributed its success to the UAE’s open approach and effective government policies. Speaking at the session moderated by Richard Quest of CNN, Georgieva ruled out the exposure of the US economy to recession this year.

“The return of the Chinese economy to growth is critical to the global economy, as the Chinese market showed some growth in terms of demand and spending,” she said.

She praised the positive contribution of Gulf states, India, and other countries to the global economy. Georgieva said the reforms implemented over the past few years represented a key factor behind the strong performance of the UAE and Gulf economies.

The IMF Managing Director also noted the success of the UAE in attracting foreign investments and creating more jobs.

Georgieva stressed the vital role of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28), which the UAE will host next November, in addressing climate, energy and other challenges.

She called on the world to expedite action to address climate challenges to ensure a prosperous future for upcoming generations.

Egyptian President leads high-level delegation to World Government Summit 2023

DUBAI, Chaired by Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the Arab Republic of Egypt will participate in the World Government Summit 2023, with a high-level delegation.

During the summit which will be held from 13 to 15 February, the Egyptian President will deliver a keynote speech reviewing the country’s most important government strategies and initiatives.

Egypt participation this year, will be the largest over the past editions of the summit, as it affirms the depth of the UAE-Egypt historical relations which goes over 5 decades and represents a distinguished model for bilateral relations between Arab countries based on integration and common interests.The Egyptian delegation includes ministers, officials and representatives of the government and private sectors to participate in main sessions, dialogues and forums of the World Government Summit.

Egypt’s presence in the past editions of the World Government Summit was distinguished by high-level participations of Egyptian prime ministers, ministers and a number of senior officials and representatives of the private sector.Also, the previous editions of the summit, witnessed the signing of several agreements and memorandums of understanding between the UAE and the Arab Republic of Egypt in the fields of government modernization, economic, educational and sports aspects, in addition to the signing of the UAE-Egypt strategic partnership that covers government performance, excellence and capabilities, as well as smart services and government accelerators.

16 Emirati humanitarian organisations join ‘Bridges of Goodness’ campaign

ABU DHABI, More Emirati humanitarian organisations have joined the ‘Bridges of Goodness’ campaign launched by the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), to provide relief to those affected by earthquakes in Syria and Turkiye.

The Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai, the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment have joined the volunteer campaign.

Dubai Cares, the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia), the International Humanitarian City, the Dar Al Ber Society, the Dubai Charity Association, the Sharjah Charity International, Sharjah Charity House, Emirates Charity, the Emirates Airline Foundation, the International Charitable Organisation, the DP World Foundation, volunteering platform Emarat, and the Sharjah Volunteer Centre also joined the campaign.

The campaign will begin by collecting aid on Saturday from 9:00 to 14:00 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), the Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City Dubai, and in Sharjah near Khalid Lake.
