“SAM FM” condemns closure of channels and accounts of national media by administrations of “YouTube” and “Facebook”

SAM FM” radio station condemned in the strongest terms the arbitrary step that has taken place, represented by the “YouTube” and “Facebook” administrations, to close channels and accounts belonging to the Yemeni national media.

“SAM FM” radio, in a statement – received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) – referred to what happened recently with the jihadist culture channel, the two channels of the Fikra Foundation for Artistic Production and Distribution, and the vocalist Issa Al-Laith channel, days after the establishment of the “YouTube” and “Facebook” administrations. By closing more than 18 channels of Yemeni war , revolutionary media and the media center of Ansar Allah.

The step taken by the administrations of “YouTube” and “Facebook” was considered an aggressive step not different from the aggression coalition’s continued mobilization of mercenaries, and the continued positioning of its occupation forces in Bab al-Mandab, and many provinces.

Jordan’s ambassador presents credentials to Panama president

Ambassador, Adly Qassem Al-Khalidi, presented his credentials to Panama President, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, as extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Jordan to Panama. The official ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace in Panama City, and attended by a number of senior officials. Al-Khalidi conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Abdullah to President Cohen, along with his best wishes to the Panamanian people for further progress and prosperity. President Cohen conveyed his greetings and appreciation to His Majesty, commended His Majesty’s wise policy and the distinguished ties between the two friendly countries, and emphasized on developing bilateral ties in various fields.

S. Korea’s Heat Wave Death Toll Rises to 23

South Korean authorities announced Wednesday that the death toll from this summer’s heat wave has risen to 23, more than tripling from last year, as the government’s heat warning remained at the highest level of “serious.” A total of 21 people died of presumed heat-related illnesses between May 20 and the end of July, while two additional deaths were reported Tuesday alone, according to YONHAP news agency.

The death toll represents more than a threefold jump from seven reported in the same period last year.

The previous day, the government raised its heat wave warning to “serious,” the highest level in the four-stage warning system, for the first time in four years.

A serious-level alert is issued when daily high temperatures remain at 35 C or higher in many parts of the country for at least three days or when daily highs remain at 38 C or higher in some parts of the nation for at least three days. (QNA)

Syria Records 5 Mild and Moderate Earthquakes

Syria’s National Earthquake Center (NEC) has recorded five light to moderate magnitude earthquakes in the past 24 hours till Wednesday morning.

The recorded tremors included two in Turkey of 3 and 4.4 magnitude on the Richter scale, one tremor of 2.5 magnitude in Iskenderun, a 3.5-magnitude tremor in the Mediterranean Sea (Crete), and a tremor of a 1.7 magnitude in the sea about 40 km northwest of Latakia, the NEC stated.

A violent earthquake measuring 7.7 magnitude on the Richter scale hit southern Turkey and northern Syria on Feb. 6, followed by another 7.6-magnitude earthquake and thousands of strong aftershocks, leaving thousands dead and a massive destruction in both countries. (QNA)

CEO of Saudi Fund for Development visits Saint Vincent and Grenadines

While on a visit to the Caribbean region, Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) CEO Sultan Al-Marshad and his accompanying delegation visited Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, where they met with Prime Minister Ralph E. Gonsalves, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Montgomery Daniel, Minister of Health Clair Prince, Minister of Education Curtis King, and other government officials.

The two sides discussed priorities in development cooperation and progress in relation to SFD-funded development projects in the country. They also emphasized the important role international cooperation and solidarity play in advancing sustainable development, particularly in Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

On the occasion, Gonsalves said: “SFD has already demonstrated remarkable solidarity with the government and people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in our quest for sustainable development. This conclusion is evident from its soft-loan support for projects in health and the creative industries. This follow-up visit by SFD promises to enhance further support in various economic sectors and particular capital projects. All of this is a manifestation, fundamentally, of the strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.”

Al-Marshad said: “It’s a pleasure to be here in the wonderful nation of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, two months after the signing of two loan agreements to support the nation’s healthcare and social infrastructure sectors. SFD is committed to working closely with the government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to ensure we remain on track to deliver these important development projects. We sincerely hope they will support the country’s development journey and bring about future prosperity for its entire people.”

Two loan agreements were signed in May for a total value of $16 million; they will help generate socio-economic growth and development in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and thus contribute to improving the quality of life for the local population.

UAEPL reviews preparations for 2023-24 sports season and awards ceremony

ABU DHABI, 1st August, 2023 (WAM) The UAE Pro League’s (UAEPL) board of directors held its second regular meeting of the 2023-2024 sports season to review preparations for the forthcoming season. The virtual meeting, chaired by the UAEPL Chairman Abdulla Naser Al Jneibi, also looked into the arrangements for the UAE Pro League Awards ceremony for the 2022-2023 season. This highly-anticipated event is slated to be hosted at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental Hotel on 10th August. Various initiatives proposed by the business development team were also brought up for discussion during the meeting.
