FM congratulates Slovenia’s, Mozambique’s, Madagascar’s counterparts

Minister of Foreign Affairs Hisham Sharaf on Sunday sent a cable of congratulations to Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia Tanja Fajon on the occasion of her country’s National Day.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also sent a cable of congratulations to Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Mozambique Veronica Veronica Macamo on the occasion of her country’s National Day.

Sharaf also sent a cable of congratulations to Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Madagascar Yvette Sylla on the occasion of her country’s National Day.

Libyan Coast Guard receives two naval units from the Italian Defense Industries Agency.

The Libyan Coast Guard received two “Corea” naval units from the Italian Defense Industries Agency in the “Messina Military” arsenal as part of the project to support the integrated management of borders and migration in Libya, Europe.

The Italian News Agency Nova quoted the Defense Industries Agency as saying in a statement that the two units are undergoing preventive rehabilitation and restoration operations by the agency’s workers as part of the technical agreement stipulated between the Ministry of Interior – Public Security Department – and the Defense Industries Agency.

The handover ceremony of the units, which preceded the signing of the official report, took place in the presence of representatives of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations (Dg Near), the Central Directorate for Migration and Border Police, the Libyan Technical Commission, the Defense Industries Agency, and the Italian Financial Police.

The patrol boats handed over to the Libyan authorities as part of the European project “Sembil” are set to be at the core of anti-trafficking and border control activities, allowing the Libyan Coast Guard to support European operations to secure the Mediterranean.

UNSMIL: Representatives of Libyan women call for expanding the political space for women.

Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Raisedon Zenenga, met representatives of the National Council for Libyan Women.

The UNSMIL said in a tweet today that the Libyan representatives shared their views on issues related to elections and the outcome of the 6+6 committee including the issue of women’s quotas and ensuring that women have decision making roles.

Zenenga stressed that UNSMIL calls for the empowerment of women and make the case for raising female representation in the upcoming elections. He also highlighted the work of the UN in Libya, including the UN organizations.

The representatives asked for capacity building for women and young female decision makers and further asked UNSMIL to engage decision makers in Libya to expand political space for women.

100 frontline heroes heading to Mecca for Hajj

ABU DHABI, 24th June, 2023 (WAM) Under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, and the Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) Authority, a delegation from the Frontline Heroes Office has left Abu Dhabi International Airport for Mecca to perform the Hajj rituals in collaboration with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments and under the support of the ERC. In recognition of their efforts in defending society, the Hajj mission comprises 100 heroes who worked on the frontlines in the health sector during the Covid-19 outbreak. Hatem Mohamed

Al-Sayeh is discussing with Qatar’s ambassador to Libya a number of files related to electoral affairs.

The Chairman of the Council of the High Electoral Commission, Imad Al-Sayeh, discussed today, Sunday, with the Qatari Ambassador to Libya, Khaled Al-Dosari, a number of files related to the electoral issue.

The Commission stated on its Facebook page that the two sides reviewed a number of files related to the electoral issue and the importance of Arab and regional countries’ support for the upcoming elections, as it reflects on the peace and stability of the Arab region.

During the meeting, ways to support proposals and endeavors that ensure the success of the elections in accordance with international standards were discussed.

In turn, the Qatari ambassador affirmed, according to the Commission, his country’s support for the democratic process in Libya, praising the efforts made by the Commission and those in charge of it in order to provide ideal conditions for holding elections in accordance with the highest standards in force in the world.
