COP28 focuses on inclusive dialogue with climate industries, energy stakeholders: EIC Regional Director


Ryan McPherson, Regional Director, Middle East, Africa, Russia and Commonwealth of Independent States at the Energy Industries Council (EIC), hailed the 28th United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP28) as the most important climate conference to date.

In a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of COP28 in Dubai, McPherson said that the focus on inclusive dialogue with all stakeholders in the energy and climate industries makes COP28 ‘the most important of its kind’.

“What makes this huge event even more important and makes it a focus of global attention is that its implementation of the Global Stocktake on the objectives of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change in 2015,” he said.

McPherson praised the COP28 Presidency led by Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and COP28 President. He commended his deep understanding of the global energy landscape and his unwavering commitment to sustainability, making him ‘the right person in the right pl
ace at the right time”.

The vision of the COP28 Presidency focuses on promoting dialogue on major climate issues, a clear focus on decarbonisation, as well as addressing the current pressing challenges through inclusive dialogues and sustainable solutions, McPherson added.
