Dubai records over AED7.3 bn in weeklong transactions

DUBAI, A total of 1,809 real estate transactions worth AED7.3 billion were conducted during the week ending 7th October, 2022, according to figures released by the Dubai Land Department.

A total of 98 plots were sold for AED975.52 million, and 1,711 apartments and villas were purchased for AED4.47 billion.

The mortgaged properties for the week reached AED1.47 billion, while 157 properties were granted between first-degree relatives worth AED418.56 million.

The top three land transactions were a land in Business Bay sold for AED74 million, a land sold for AED72 million in Umm Al Sheif, and a land sold for AED58 million in Palm Jumeirah. Jebel Ali recorded the most transactions for this week with 18 sales transactions worth AED58 million, followed by Al Hebiah Fifth with 15 sales transactions worth AED52 million, and Mohammed bin Rashid Gardens with 14 sales transactions worth AED293 million.

The top three transactions for apartments and villas were sold in Palm Jumeirah for AED55 million, AED42 million and AED36 million respectively. Business Bay recorded the most transactions for this week with 211 sales transactions worth AED363 million, followed by Palm Jumeirah with 143 sales transactions worth AED1 billion, and Umm Suqeim Third with 137 sales transactions worth AED370 million.

Ministry of Finance to participate in GITEX Global 2022

DUBAI, The Ministry of Finance (MoF) today announced its participation in the 42nd edition of GITEX GLOBAL 2022, which will be held from 10th to 14th October at Dubai World Trade Centre.

The ministry’s participation comes with the aim of highlighting its pioneering experience in digital transformation, as well as its latest smart and innovative projects and initiatives in financial fields. The ministry is also participating to exchange experiences and enhance communication and partnerships with active technology entities.

Younis Haji Al Khoori, Undersecretary of Ministry of Finance, emphasised the ministry’s keenness to participate in the annual event that brings together bodies and companies from around the globe.

He noted that the tech show is a great opportunity to boost cooperation ties with technology solution providers, investors, and strategic partners from the public and private sectors, to benefit from the most prominent solutions and disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, the Internet of things, among others.

This, in turn, will help the ministry be better able to continue devising proactive services that meet future needs and support the UAE’s vision for the next 50 years.

Al Khoori also mentioned that GITEX GLOBAL is an ideal platform to exchange the best experiences and practices in digital transformation. It is also an opportunity to connect with customers to improve the efficiency, quality, and speed of services, in line with the objectives of the UAE Strategy for Government Services and the UAE Centennial 2071.

During GITEX GLOBAL 2022, the Ministry of Finance will exhibit a range of its digital services and AI initiatives that keep up with the latest developments in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and modern technologies.

The ministry will also organise dialogue sessions and workshops to preview the Economic Substance Filing Portal system, AI-powered data analysis initiatives, and Supplier Registration in the Federal Supplier Register, among other digital services.

Islamic Affairs Department honors Dubai Customs for making Hajj season

In appreciation of Dubai Customs’ efforts to make the Hajj season of 1443 AH a success, His Excellency Dr. Hamad bin Sheikh Ahmed Al Shaibani, Director General of the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai, honored Dubai Customs in a ceremony that the Department organized for its strategic partners at the Intercontinental Hotel, Festival City. Ibrahim Kamali, Director of Passenger Operations Department received the honouring on behalf of Dubai Customs.

The Passenger Operations Department has worked at full capacity during the Hajj (pilgrimage) season to ensure a smooth trip for all pilgrims coming back into the country. These efforts included a work plan to receive the pilgrims through a number of proactive procedures.

Kamali thanked the Department of Islamic Affairs for the honouring, stressing that Dubai customs has cooperated with different stakeholders and entities to help the Hajj passengers have a pleasant trip back into the country.

Dubai Customs took many proactive measures during the Hajj season, including allocating a special path for pilgrims in the hand baggage inspection area along the counter of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, to quickly finish the procedures for the pilgrims. The baggage carousel for pilgrims was chosen to be the nearest to the exit gates at the arrivals hall, and pilgrims exited through electronic inspection gates.

DAFZ enters metaverse by launching METADAFZ in line with Dubai’s Metaverse Strategy

DUBAI, Dubai Airport Freezone (DAFZ), part of Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ), is set to announce the launch of METADAFZ, which aims to provide the free zone’s clients with a smooth digital experience in the metaverse.

DAFZ will make the official announcement at GITEX 2022, which will take place from October 10-14 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The launch of this initiative aligns with the directives of Dubai’s Metaverse Strategy, which was announced by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, to advance Dubai’s metaverse economy. The initiative aims to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) and businesses to the free zone, by uncovering DAFZ’s unique offerings, products, and solutions to advance the Emirate’s leading position as a hub for competitive and constructive technology.

METADAFZ will enable clients from across the globe to conduct meetings via a virtual platform, offering a unique and semi-realistic experience regardless of the physical location. The innovative initiative offers an alternative to the traditional way of conducting business activities, and empowers company representatives to discuss future work prospects, as well as how to launch businesses and projects in Dubai.

E-learning initiative by Dubai Culture, LinkedIn continues to support UAE creatives

DUBAI, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) launched the third season of its e-learning initiative in partnership with LinkedIn, the largest professional network in the world, to provide professional development opportunities for members of the creative community in the UAE through the LinkedIn educational platform. The Authority calls on all interested creative talent and entrepreneurs to register and benefit from the accompanying courses and workshops, helping them hone their skills and develop their businesses.

Starting this month, users will be able to register in courses related to their fields and interests through over 16,000 business, technology and creative skills courses offered by the initiative for free via the LinkedIn education platform.

Shaima Rashed Al Suwaidi, Director of the Marketing & Corporate Communication Department at Dubai Culture, said: “The partnership between the Authority and LinkedIn in its third-year falls within the framework of the Authority’s efforts to provide pioneering digital platforms and programmes to support creatives in the UAE. Over the past two years, it has supported members of the creative community in facing the challenges posed by COVID-19, enabling them to virtually access a large number of specialised educational courses and materials from the comfort of their homes. This year, we aspire to continue to support those wishing to obtain knowledge and develop skills wherever they are across the country by investing in accessible and innovative programmes and initiatives. The workshop topics will revolve around two key themes: creative educational offering and best practices for building a professional personal profile (this includes introducing the training courses offered by LinkedIn and how to access them).

The initiative offers accredited specialised training courses designed by a group of experienced international experts that aim to develop and refine the capabilities of creative professionals in the areas of business administration. The courses include digital business transformation, crisis management, business development, legal and financial matters, and creative skills that include photography, graphic design, electronic games and product design, visual arts, films, and fashion, among other fields of creativity and business management.

DoH and Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi exchange experiences in the scientific research and innovation

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), the regulator of the healthcare sector in the Emirate, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi. The MoU aims to enhance cooperation between the two parties on scientific research, AI-based concepts development, education and community engagement in healthcare. The collaboration aims to support and strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as an incubator for innovation in life sciences.

His Excellency Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi, Undersecretary of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), and Professor Silvia Serrano, Vice-Chancellor Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (SUAD) signed the MoU.

As part of the MoU, DoH will work with SUAD through the Sorbonne Centre for Artificial intelligence (SCAI), in its locations both in Paris and Abu Dhabi, to develop pioneering research programmes in AI, and upskill healthcare workers by strengthening and increasing their knowledge and expertise in Artificial intelligence and the research field.

The partnership falls in line with the Department’s efforts to strengthen collaborations with academia, technology companies and research centres to boost the quality standards of the healthcare sector in Abu Dhabi.
