Al-Sisi and Al-Sabah stress respect for Libya’s sovereignty, reject external interference, and support national efforts.

Tripoli: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and the Emir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, stressed the necessity of respecting the sovereignty of the State of Libya, the unity and integrity of its lands, and rejecting all types of external interference in its affairs.

In a joint statement on the occasion of the visit of the Emir of Kuwait to Egypt yesterday, Tuesday, they stressed the importance of supporting Libyan national efforts within the framework of the principle of exclusive Libyan ownership of the political settlement.

The two countries praised the efforts of the Libyan legislative authority in this regard and its approval of electoral laws in the context of fulfilling all necessary frameworks for holding presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously as soon as possible, and in a manner consistent with the political agreement signed in the city of Skhirat, the Libyan Constitutional Declaration and its amendments, and the terms of reference for settli
ng the Libyan crisis, including resolutions of the Security Council.

Al-Sisi and Al-Sabah stressed the need for all foreign forces, foreign fighters and mercenaries to leave Libya within a specific time frame, dissolve the militias and reunite the military and security institutions under a unified executive authority capable of ruling the rest of the Libyan territories and representing the masses of the Libyan people, according to the statement.
