Arab Parliament Calls for an Integrated System to Protect Arab Countries from Extremist Ideas

Cairo, Arab Parliament Speaker Adel Al-Asoomi has called for the necessity of authoring an integrated system that protects Arab countries from extremist ideas that serve external agendas and aims to spread a culture contrary to Arab customs, traditions, and teachings of the Islamic religion in their societies.

In a statement issued today to mark World Press Freedom Day, which falls on May 3 of each year, Al-Asoomi said that the brutal Israeli war on Gaza revealed the need to activate all forms and diversified platforms of journalistic and media work in confronting the false Israeli narratives and revealing the true face of the Israeli occupation and its racist practices.

He underscored the vital and pioneering role of a free, expressive-voice press in Arab societies, stressing the necessity of providing the press with mechanisms that guarantee the flow of free expression of opinions and adhering to the values of transparency and neutrality to establish a meaningful Arab media.
