Palestinian singer Dalal Abu Amna has snubbed an invited to the Dubai Expo 2020 over the United Arab Emirates’ ties with Israel. The singer, who says she declined many other official invitations to perform in the UAE, refused to perform at the six-month long world fair due to the country’s “persistence in ignoring the feelings and rights of the Palestinian people”, as per a statement on her verified Facebook page. Israel’s president spoke at Dubai’s Expo 2020 world fair on Monday on the first presidential visit to the United Arab Emirates, despite the Gulf state overnight saying it had intercepted a ballistic missile fired by Yemen’s Houthis. Israeli President Isaac Herzog travelled to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday in the first-ever Israeli presidential visit to the Gulf state. Herzog is accompanied by his wife Michal on the two-day trip. He will meet, among others, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and de facto ruler of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Sajid Al Nahjan. “I bring with me a blessing and a message of peace for the peoples of the entire region,” Herzog said before his departure.
