Etisalat Academy, Zayed University partner up to mentor students; deliver latest Cybersecurity and Emerging Technologies Programmes

DUBAI, Zayed University has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Etisalat Academy to collaborate in the cybersecurity and emerging technologies training.

The MoU was signed – in the presence of CEO/Etisalat Services Holding, Muammar Al Rukhaimi – by Sherif Mousa, acting Chief Administrator and Finance Officer at Zayed University, and Dr. Ali Al Qayedi, Etisalat Academy General Manager.

According to the MoU, Etisalat Academy will provide different cybersecurity and latest technologies training to both employees and students of Zayed University, which will support instructors, provide mentoring programmes and industry focused sessions/workshops. Etisalat Academy will guide students/employees of Zayed University on getting access to Learning Portal/Programme/Certifications and Support Student Internship and Recruitment.

Commenting on the partnership, Sherif Mousa said, “We are delighted that the Etisalat Academy will join Zayed University’s Partner Challenge programme and mentor students. This initiative is helping Zayed University develop the future leaders, thinkers, and doers of the UAE. These challenges give students a chance to gain an in-depth understanding of the workplace, encourage them to think for themselves and open their eyes to the opportunities available to them when they graduate. Students will benefit a great deal from the expertise and mentorship of the Etisalat Academy.”

The partnership will create a robust, technologically equipped generation, that will help shape UAE’s vision in being the leading technology and innovation driven nation.

Dr. Ali Al Qayedi said, “The importance of Cybersecurity is increasing day by day. The goal of cybersecurity is to ensure confidentiality, data integrity and availability. Etisalat Academy aims to provide Cybersecurity training programme to support organisations to protect their data from any internal and external attacks. Etisalat Academy offers Cybersecurity Trainings that gives the knowledge and skills to secure and protect critical infrastructure and data systems.”

Ma’an showcases latest digital social support platforms and initiatives at GITEX Global 2022

DUBAI, The Authority for Social Contributions (Ma’an) showcased a diverse array of digital platforms designed to support the social sector in Abu Dhabi as part of the Authority’s emphatic participation at GITEX Global 2022 that concluded yesterday.

Ma’an partook part in the premier technology event through the pavilion of the Abu Dhabi Government, and the platforms and initiatives under its spotlight were particularly focused on developing and encouraging the capabilities of social entrepreneurs and social start-ups in Abu Dhabi Emirate.

Through its stand, Ma’an offered visitors a glimpse into its flagship platforms such ‘Ma’an Mentorship Platform’, ‘Ma’an Upskilling Platform’, ‘Ma’an Social Contribution Platform’, as well as the key themes and initiatives of the Ma’an Social Incubator (MSI), the Accelerator for Innovative Social Work in Abu Dhabi.

Through its innovative virtual platform called ‘Ma’an Mentorship Platform’, the authority facilitates a virtual networking space for trainers and mentors to offer specialised lectures and training programmes for entrepreneurs and emerging social startups to enable them to take their business to the next level. The ‘Ma’an Upskilling Platform’, on the other hand, serves as a learning management system for entrepreneurs to improve their skills, develop innovative projects, and deliver the desired social impact. These platforms are open to all Ma’an-certified social impact enterprises.

EGA’s Youth Council hosts first ‘Youth in Manufacturing & Technology Forum’

ABU DHABI, The Youth Council of Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) hosted the first ‘Youth in Manufacturing & Technology Forum’, bringing together Youth Councils from manufacturing and technology-led organisations to drive forward Operation 300bn and the UAE Centennial 2071 goal of creating a diversified knowledge economy.

The forum at EGA’s Al Taweelah site brought together over 15 Youth Councils from entities including Abu Dhabi National Energy Company, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, DP World, du, Dubai Electricity & Water Authority, Emirates National Oil Company, Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, Emirates Steel Arkan, Etihad Airways, Etihad Rail, Etisalat, Microsoft, Roads and Transport Authority, Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, Youth Advisory Council on Sustainable Development Goals, Global Shapers Community by World Economic Forum and Yahsat.

Created by the EGA Youth Council, the forum aims to foster future cooperation between key industries to achieve the goal of doubling the size of the UAE’s industrial sector by 2031. The forum also aims to strengthen connections between innovative and technology-led major companies and organisations to further strengthen the UAE’s knowledge economy.

Abdulnasser bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of EGA, said, “At EGA, we continue to focus on developing our youth and strive to empower national talent to lead the country in all aspects of society. The ‘Youth in Manufacturing & Technology Forum’ promises to be an important way for future leaders of these sectors to form the relationships and ideas they will need for many years to come.”

EGA’s Youth Council was established in 2018 to enable the company’s young UAE national employees to develop into innovative leaders and pacesetters for change in the nation. Over 700 of EGA’s Emirati employees are under the age of 35.

Abu Dhabi Global Market Academy signs agreement with Association of Corporate Treasurers

ABU DHABI, Abu Dhabi Global Market Academy (ADGMA) and the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT) have partnered to collaborate on delivering treasury and cash qualifications in the UAE and the wider Middle East region.

The agreement was signed by Mansoor Jaffar, CEO of ADGM Academy and Research Centre, and Caroline Stockmann, CEO of ACT, at the ACT Middle East Treasury Summit held in Dubai.

Along with the advancement of treasury and cash management knowledge, the strategic collaboration will also focus on supporting the UAE National Agenda of employability for the professional development and upskilling of the UAE nationals while balancing financial risks and opportunities for businesses in the Emirates.

The entities will also explore promoting and establishing ACT preparation training courses that will enable successful candidates to earn ACT certifications such as Certificate in Treasury Fundamentals, Certificate in Treasury and Award in Internal Cash Management and other higher-level qualifications.

Through the agreement, both ADGMA and ACT aim to foresee the upskilling of the UAE nationals via joint training to equip individuals for a successful career in the treasury and corporate finance industry.

Commenting on the partnership, Mansoor Jaffar said, “Equipping national talent for long-term success in the industry is key in our commitment to support UAE’s dynamic financial sector. ADGM Academy was established to invest in local talent and to ensure the robust development of the UAE’s economy.

ADGMA and ACT also intend to collaborate on thought leadership opportunities such as joint seminars, workshops and conferences to achieve mutually beneficial goals.

Saif bin Zayed visits DEWA’s stand at GITEX Global

HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, visited Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA’s) stand at the GITEX Global 2022. His Highness was received by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan was briefed by HE Saeed Al Tayer on DEWA’s key innovative and digital projects and initiatives, which use the latest disruptive technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, including DEWAVerse platform, which DEWA launched recently. DEWA is the first local government organisation to launch its platform on the Metaverse to provide its services to customers, employees and members of society. DEWA invests in Metaverse technology to implement and develop its current and future projects, which contributes towards stakeholder happiness, the development of business, enhancing efficiency and production, and reducing costs.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) stand at GITEX Global is witnessing a large turnout from visitors to the largest technology exhibition of its kind in the world. At its stand (S1-D), Sheikh Saeed Hall 1 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, DEWA is showcasing some of its most prominent digital initiatives based on the latest Metaverse and the Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies. These include Artificial Intelligence (AI), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs); Energy storage; blockchain; Internet of Things (IoT); robotics and others; to provide an integrated, innovative and value-added experience that meets the aspirations and enhances the happiness of stakeholders and the quality of life in Dubai.

He noted that by Q3 of 2022, the adoption rate of DEWA’s smart services reached 98.99%. Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future at DEWA, said that DEWA’s stand at GITEX Global is presenting key digital initiatives for smart cities developed by DEWA and its subsidiaries under Digital DEWA, its digital arm, using the latest Metaverse and the Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies such as AI, UAVs, energy storage, blockchain, IoT, and robotics among others, for an integrated and innovative experience that meets customer expectations.

 

Signing MoUs

 

DEWA’s stand at GITEX Global witnessed the signing of several MoUs and partnership agreements. DEWA and Moro Hub (Data Hub Integrated Solutions), a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, the digital arm of DEWA, signed a MoU with Siemens Energy to cooperate in digital transformation to achieve customer happiness and increase business efficiency and productivity. Moro also signed an exclusive agreement with 3W Networks by Elsewedy Electric. The partnership intends to share the know-how between the two,  while providing innovative digital solutions to clients inside and outside the UAE. Moro also signed a strategic partnership with Aster Pharmacy, a division of Aster DM Healthcare, to provide Cold Chain tracking services to ensure the safe delivery of drugs, medicines and vaccines and increase the efficiency of the supply chain process. Moro also signed a MoU with Dubai Courts to provide support and cybersecurity services. InfraX, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, and DarkBlue Technologies, signed a strategic partnership to boost InfraX IoT network uptake in the UAE.

DEWA’s stand shows some of its key innovative projects including the ‘DEWAVerse’ platform on the Metaverse, which DEWA launched recently, making it the first local government organisation to launch its platform on the Metaverse to provide its services to customers, employees and members of society. DEWA invests in Metaverse technology to implement and develop its current and future projects, which contributes towards stakeholder happiness, the development of business, enhancing efficiency and production, and reducing costs.

The stand highlights DEWA’s smart app, whose revamped version will be launched by the end of 2022, to provide an easier, more intuitive, and efficient experience to achieve customer happiness; Smart Office for Employees, which is a leading digital workplace platform that addresses all enterprise operational requirements through a unified multi-functional and secure super app, that is accessible anytime, anywhere; Rammas Virtual Employee that uses AI to assist customers and answers their enquiries in both Arabic and English; Rammas at Work, which is an executive virtual assistant available on the Smart Office app. It also assists in faster decision-making and performing daily tasks in an easy manner.

 

DEWA’s stand also shows the Big Data and Analytics Platform, which combines big data, AI and machine learning technologies to simplify and improve operations across various business functions; the Duroob app, in its advanced version for Power Distribution Connection Services; Enterprise Service Bus, which is a secured platform to enable Business Service Integration to meet its Smart Grid Enterprise Architecture requirements; the Cloud-Based System for 24/7 remote management of Mobile/Standby Generators; and the Smart GIS Application for Field Operations that allows field employees to view 3D underground asset locations.

 

Other projects on display include the Smart Tracking System for Technical Notifications and Green EV Charger; Space-D Web Portal, which showcases satellite collected data, images of use-cases and IoT terminals; the Generation Division Cyber Security Operations Centre (GD CSOC) to proactively monitor and manage cyber incidents related to Generation Division Operational Technology system; the Robotic Process Automation; and the EV Green Charger initiative, which supports Dubai’s efforts to provide innovative and sustainable transport solutions.

 

In addition, DEWA is highlighting the projects of Digital DEWA, its digital arm, and its subsidiaries, such as Moro Hub (Data Hub Integrated Solutions). These include the Green Data Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, MORO Cloud services and Moro digital products that include the Smart City Platform, Cyber Security services, Moro Managed Network as a Service, Moro Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS), and MORO integrated physical security platform. DEWA is also showing Digital X products such as the Solar Innovation Centre Smart app, the Mobile Workforce, and Infra X products such as the Outdoor Air Quality Sensor, the Water Quality Sensor, the Passive Infra-Red Sensor (PIR), IoT device for protection against floods, fires and crop damage, the Fibre Sensing technology, Smart Manhole Sensor, smart waste management solutions and smart parking solutions.
