DUBAI, UAE, 31 May 2021: Dubai Land Department (DLD) directed real estate developers in the emirate to the necessity of initiating the payments of property registration services fees within a maximum period of 60 days, stressing that the property registration process is carried out by the real estate developer after the buyer would have submitted the required fees (4 percent of the property’s value).

DLD calls on real estate developers to not exceed the legal period in order to avoid any delay penalties that may arise as a result, explaining that the value of the required 4 percent of a property’s value is to be paid based on the agreement concluded between the seller and the buyer, whether when registering a whole or partial sale.

Mansoor Zain Alsharif, Manager of the Real Estate Registration Assurance Section in the Real Estate Registration Services Department at DLD, said: “At DLD, we seek to promote the principle of transparency to bring together all relevant parties in the sale or purchase process. As such, we cannot stress enough the importance of educating investors about the legal period specified in accordance with the emirate’s legislation, given the lack of knowledge of some investors to this regard, and, thus, preserving their rights and preventing them from being exposed to any violations that may result should the specified period be exceeded.”

Alsharif added: “The completion of the property registration process and the payment of registration services fees would also contribute to increasing the number of real estate transactions in the emirate, which in turn is positively and significantly reflected on enhancing the trust of investors and customers in Dubai’s real estate market, which would encourage the attracting of additional investors, specifically in the build-up to Expo 2020.”

DLD indicates that the buyer or investor must settle DLD’s property registration fees to the real estate developer to complete the legal registration procedures for the property. DUBAI, Luxembourg will gift its Expo 2020 Dubai pavilion to the UAE, illustrating its commitment to the meaningful, lasting legacy of the next World Expo and reflecting the strong, growing relationship between the two countries.

The announcement was made as Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai, welcomed Franz Fayot, Luxembourg’s Minister of Economy and Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs, during a visit to the UAE.

Al Hashemy said: “There has never been a greater need for people, communities, businesses and nations to come together to share their ideas for a better future, and we are extremely grateful to the government of Luxembourg for gifting its stunning pavilion to the UAE.

“Our actions today will impact the environment we leave for our children tomorrow, and this generous act reflects our collective responsibility to leave a lasting positive impact. Luxembourg’s innovative, sustainable vision will enthral millions of visitors to Expo 2020 Dubai, and inspire generations to come as a permanent part of Expo’s future city of District 2020.”

As part of an economic delegation aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, the ministers also discussed their shared vision for innovation, sustainable development, and space exploration and mining.

Fayot’s trip marks the first ministerial visit to the Luxembourg Pavilion, which is set for completion by mid-June. Under the theme ‘Resourceful Luxembourg’, the pavilion is based on the idea of the Möbius ribbon – an infinite form symbolising the openness and dynamism of the country, and reflecting its commitment to the circular economy.

Fayot said: “Expo 2020 will be a unique platform for Luxembourg to collaborate with top innovating countries worldwide, as well as create and strengthen existing partnerships in the region and beyond. We are pleased to be part of Expo’s legacy by contributing our pavilion as a permanent building at the site – one that will serve as a beacon of hope for all those who visit, during the six months of Expo and long into the future.”

The three-storey Luxembourg Pavilion will serve as a laboratory for rethinking ever-pressing questions around natural resources, featuring a green atrium that repurposes water from its air-conditioning system to water the plants and vegetation throughout the pavilion. Visitors will be able to descend from the top floor to the bottom via a giant slide, a nod to the country’s annual fair.

Approximately 80 per cent of Expo’s built environment will live on in District 2020, a model global community for the future that will use state-of-the-art innovation, science and sustainability to create a cleaner, safer, healthier environment to live and work.

DUBAI, Dubai Airports has hailed the Italian government’s decision to waive the 10-day quarantine requirement for all categories of travellers from the UAE, in favour of test-based travel protocols, with effect from 2nd June, 2021.

All passengers arriving on flights from the UAE to the Italian airports of Rome/Fiumicino, Milan/Malpensa and Venice/Marco Polo are free to circulate throughout the country without restriction, provided they have a negative COVID-19 test result dated not more than 48 hours before departure from the UAE.

Those testing positive will have to undergo a period of isolation at a COVID-19 approved hotel local to their point of arrival, in accordance with the applicable COVID-19 protocols, and upon arrival in Italy, all passengers over the age of two years will be required to take a rapid antigen test Praising Italy’s decision as a pragmatic and practical move, Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports said, “This is an important step towards recovery from the global pandemic and will give travellers to Europe the opportunity to plan long-anticipated trips to one of the world’s most popular destinations. It demonstrates the confidence that both countries have in their approach to overcoming the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and is one of the most significant bilateral travel corridors which are vital to reboot travel. We hope that other countries will follow Italy’s example in leading the global recovery”

Griffiths added, “The pandemic has caused a lot of social and economic damage and devastated millions of jobs across so many industries over the past 14 months. What the world desperately needs now is a safe return to the mobility and connectivity to aid the momentum of economic recovery, based on prudent risk management rather than risk avoidance”.

The UAE-Italy corridor is the latest in a series of travel corridor agreements signed by the UAE, including with Greece, Serbia, Seychelles and Bahrain.

DUBAI, Emirates will resume flights between Dubai and Venice from 1 July, initially offering 3 flights a week on the route, increasing trade and tourism connectivity between the UAE and Italy, and offering customers more travel options.

The airline will also increase services to Milan from 8 to 10 weekly flights in July. This will comprise of a daily service on the Dubai-Milan-New York JFK route, and a 3-weekly return flights between Dubai and Milan. Together with Emirates’ 5 weekly flights to Rome and 3 weekly flights to Bologna, this will take the airline’s total services to Italy to 21 weekly flights to 4 cities in July. Emirates will serve Venice, Milan, Rome and Bologna with its modern and comfortable widebody Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

Emirates’ expansion of flight services in Italy follows the start of “Covid-Tested flight” arrangements, which allow its passengers to travel to Italy without quarantine on arrival.

We hope that more countries will consider similar arrangements to facilitate quarantine-free travel.”

Effective 2 June, Emirates customers travelling to Italy aged 2 years and above, are required to hold a negative COVID-19 PCR-RT or Rapid Antigen test result valid for 48 hours prior to departure. Travellers must also take a Rapid Antigen swab test on arrival in Italy, at their own cost.
