Dubai Municipality wins RoSPA Award from UK

DUBAI, Dubai Municipality has won the UK Royal Society for the Prevention of Accident (RoSPA) award. The Municipality won the “RoSPA Inspiration Award” in the category of Health and Safety Team of the Year 2021 – Middle East for the Mini-Crisis Cell Working Group System to Limit the Spread of COVID-19.

The award contributed to strengthening Dubai Municipality’s keenness to implement the principles and values of health and safety – in light of the pandemic – in its organisational units and its various work sites.

The initiative also focused on highlighting the distinctive organisational efforts of Dubai Municipality and its pioneering role at the emirate level of rapid response to health and safety requirements during the COVID-19, and the effective participation in accelerating the pace of recovery in coordination with all other government agencies and institutions in the emirate.

RTA claims Guinness World Record for largest number of nationalities participating in occupational safety event

DUBAI, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has achieved a new Guinness World Record by staging an awareness event that attracted the biggest number of participating nationalities worldwide.

RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency succeeded in claiming a Guinness Record for holding an educative occupational safety event in collaboration with its partners on the Shindagha Roads Corridor (Infinity Bridge) project. The Guinness team was present at the site of the event, which attracted individuals representing 75 nationalities.

“We are committed to the principle that people safety takes precedence over all other construction and maintenance considerations. We attach huge importance to promoting the occupational health and safety practices across the Agency’s operations at all times while protecting our employees, partners and the community around us,” said Maitha Bin Adai, CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency, RTA.

Bin Adai expressed her delight with this achievement and praised the outstanding performance of the site teams of RTA and other partners in delivering the plans and strategies set and contributing to the happiness of residents, visitors and tourists coming to the Emirate from all over the world.

“RTA is keen to engage with reputable international consultants and contractors in studying, designing, constructing, operating and maintaining road and infrastructure projects. We are committed to observing the highest standards of occupational health and safety at construction sites. We believe in the importance of running continuous awareness events for all personnel given the massive number of nationalities working in our projects. Various initiatives are rolled out to ensure a safe working environment capable of delivering the Agency’s mission of occupational safety, which resulted in setting this world record,” she added.

“We attach considerable attention to developing the occupational health and safety practices at the workplace. We also chart out clear and sound procedures and annual plans to strengthen the principles of occupational safety in our construction projects through cooperating with experts and specialists and transferring successful experiences to maximise the benefits of holding awareness sessions,” Bin Adai concluded.

Dubai Industrial City, Emirates Development Bank sign agreement to boost manufacturing, industrial growth

DUBAI, Dubai Industrial City, a member of Dubai Holding Asset Management, has signed a strategic agreement with Emirates Development Bank [EDB], a key financial enabler of the country’s economic diversification and industrial transformation agenda, to provide innovative financing and banking solutions to small and medium-sized enterprises and support the growth of vital national industries, such as advanced manufacturing and logistics.

Signed by Saud Abu Al-Shawareb, Managing Director of Dubai Industrial City, and Shaker Zainal, Head of Business Finance at EDB, the strategic agreement seeks to support Dubai Industrial City’s efforts to develop the industrial sector in Dubai and the UAE, provide new opportunities to attract local and international manufacturing companies, and offer financial solutions to develop state-of-the-art infrastructure.

The agreement also aligns with EDB’s continuous efforts to enable the industrial transformation and economic diversification agenda in the UAE, build a knowledge-based economy, increase global competitiveness and sustainable growth, and support startups and SMEs, which are key drivers of the national economy.

“Through this agreement with Dubai Industrial City, we will offer the right support to finance SMEs. We are always keen on cooperating with related entities, especially in terms of financing small and medium-sized enterprises, and we believe that this collaboration with one of the region’s largest industrial hubs will help us reach potential customers and study the possibility of funding them. We will also work together on developing entrepreneurship and awareness programmes and sharing industrial knowledge,” said Zainal.

Providing a convenient and cost-effective work environment for manufacturing and industrial activity, plans offer an enabling ecosystem, including industrial and commercial land, retail showrooms, warehouses, office buildings, open yard storage, and residential accommodations. The site is also strategically located near Jebel Ali Port and Al Maktoum International Airport, providing an opportunity to reach two-thirds of the world’s population in eight hours.

Ajman Chamber of Commerce, China’s Dahua explore tech investment opportunities

AJMAN, The Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a meeting with representatives from Dahua – a leading Chinese tech solutions provider specialising in video surveillance products, data security, alarms, motion sensors and access control.

Headed by Abdullah Mohammed Al Muwaiji, Chairman of Ajman Chamber’s Board of Directors, the meeting explored opportunities for attracting international companies and brands, in addition to strengthening partnerships. It brought together Jassim Al-Balooshi, Chairman of the Board at Dubai Leading Technologies; Brant Shen, Director of Business Development at Dahua; and Mohammad Ali Al Janahi, Executive Director of Promotion and Investment at Ajman Chamber.

Those at the meeting discussed each party’s scope of work, outlining the services it provides and opportunities for cooperation to support multinational companies in the Emirate of Ajman and provide them with the facilities and services necessary for growth. A future partnership between Dahua and the Ajman Chamber was also announced.

“The Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry is committed to diversifying its partnerships with international companies operating in the UAE, or those looking to set up shop in the Emirates,” said Al Muwaiji.
