UAE steadily accomplishing big, strategic achievements: Hamdan bin Zayed

ABU DHABI, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, emphasised that strategic achievements by the country are progressing steadily in various sectors in the year celebrating the golden jubilee, including the peaceful nuclear energy sector.

Sheikh Hamdan said these achievements were possible thanks to the vision of the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

In his statement on the occasion of the launch of Unit 2 of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, he stated, “This achievement in this advanced scientific and technical sector confirms the UAE’s ability to move forward in developing giant strategic projects such as Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, which will contribute to securing energy for future generations in addition to its pivotal role in confronting the phenomenon of climate change to preserve the environment.”

Sheikh Hamdan expressed his pride in the Emirati cadres who have proven their capabilities and dedication to lead work teams from various nationalities and global expertise, and completed this strategic project under the latest international standards and practices, by overcoming the challenges facing the world and registering these exceptional achievements.

“The UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Programme has become a role model for all countries that aspire to use nuclear energy to achieve their sustainability objectives, given the programme’s commitment to adhere to the highest international standards of safety, quality and transparency, in addition to gaining the world’s confidence through close cooperation with the competent authorities and partners,” he said in conclusion.

Outcome of national strategy for empowerment of Emirati women, a source of pride: Fatima bint Mubarak

ABU DHABI, H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, praised the progress the UAE has been making in supporting and empowering women, thanks to the leadership’s proactive vision.

“As we endeavour to shape the future of the Emirati women, we draw our inspiration from the wise vision and continuous support of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates,” she said.

Sheikha Fatima made the remarks on the occasion of the Emirati Women’s Day, falling on 28th August, and celebrated this year under the theme, “Women: Ambitions & Inspiration for Next 50 Years”.

“I was very happy and proud to see the outcomes of the ‘National Strategy for Empowerment of Emirati Women in the UAE for 2015-2021’. I am also pleased to announce that we are celebrating the fruitful outcome of six years of diligent efforts by the GWU and strategic partners, as well as teams in the union, the federal and local government departments and the private sector, who worked very hard to ensure a robust and advanced model for women’s empowerment.”

This year’s celebration coincides with the marking 50 years since the UAE was founded on values and principles laid by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Concluding her statement with a message for Emirati women, Sheikha Fatima said, “My dear daughters, I am entrusted with supporting your dreams, your thoughts and your ambitions. I wish you all the best.”

Emirati women key partner in nation-building: AbdulRahman Al Owais

DUBAI, Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, said that women have formed a key pillar in the national strategies that are based on innovation, excellence, and leadership, thanks to the support and guidance of the state’s wise leadership which paid special attention to the empowerment of women to help them assume leadership roles.

On the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day, Al Owais underlined that the UAE’s wise leadership has provided all tools of success, including business friendly environment, and women’s empowerment programmes to help them unleash their energies and talent and assume leadership roles, thus achieving significant milestones over the past decades.

The Health Minister congratulated H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) on this occasion, pointing out that the directives of Her Highness to choose the theme “Women: Ambitions & Inspiration for Next 50 Years” reflects her confidence in the role of Emirati women in reaching better future and more prosperous for the nation.

“This theme also reflects the efforts exerted by Her Highness to strengthen women’s role in all forums and her belief that Emirati women must be an active partner in achieving leadership for the next fifty years,” noted Al Owais.

Emirati women’s achievements outcome of leadership’s confidence in their potential: Hessa Buhumaid

DUBAI, The great achievements made by Emirati women are the result of the trust and appreciation of the UAE leadership, said Hessa Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development.

Such confidence, she added, gives Emirati women a recognition of their aspirations, serving as a guideline for all the successes achieved by women at various levels and fields.

Buhumaid lauded the impact and vision of H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation “Mother of the Nation” and her selection of the theme of the Emirati Women’s Day this year as “Women: Ambitions and Inspiration for Next 50 Years.”

Buhumaid added that Emirati women, who celebrate their day on August 28th each year, have achieved excellence locally, regionally and even globally. She noted that Emirati women are preparing to get to the space, having achieved record numbers on the ground in senior positions, diplomatic missions, armed forces, national service, along with other areas, such as aviation, renewable and clean energy, technology, engineering and medicine.

Women now hold nine ministerial portfolios, half of the seats at the Federal National Council; about 46% of leadership and supervisory positions in the federal government, 72% of health jobs, 69% in the education sector and 46% in administrative positions, 30% of diplomatic mission positions, 34% of professional and specialised jobs, and 37.5% of the banking community.

Dubai Customs hosts discussion session on UAE Women’s Day

DUBAI, Director General of Dubai Customs, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih highlighted the leading role women play in the social and economic development in the UAE.

“The UAE women’s journey in the advancement of the nations has turned into an example to follow due to the great leaps they made in the past and the present,” said Musabih in the virtual discussion session that brought together the Director General with Raja Al Gurg, an Emirati businesswoman, and a number of female employees in the department.

The event was organised by the Women’s Committee at Dubai Customs as part of the initiatives to celebrate the sixth anniversary of the Emirati Women’s Day, which is observed annually on 28th August.

It was launched in 2015 by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF). This year’s theme is ‘Women: Ambitions & Inspiration for the Next 50 Years’.

The participants discussed the biography book of Raja Al Gurg; the leading UAE businesswoman.

Musabih congratulated all female employees in the Department on the occasion and said; “Celebrating the UAE women’s achievements embodies the wise vision of our leadership and our belief of the pivotal role women can play in the development journey in the next 50 years. It is also to show our commitment of providing a positive work environment for our female employees to help them further develop their skills and competencies.

On her part, Mariam Khalifa Al-Shamsi, Head of the Women’s Committee at Dubai Customs said: “Celebrating the UAE Women’s Day gives us a push and inspiration consolidating our faith in our importance and role as women in the UAE. It reflects what this day means to us and how much the UAE has achieved in gender equality. Our deepest thanks and appreciation to H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Mother of the UAE, for her unlimited support to women in all walks of life, and to our wise leadership for empowering women and helping them in all fields.”

Along the same line, Eman Tahir, Vice Chairwoman of the Women’s Committee at Dubai Customs said: “There are a number of solid policies and strategies in place in Dubai Customs that have helped empower female employees in different roles. The Department has launched many initiatives to support and consolidate women’s role.”

Al Gurg is the first Emirati woman to have written her biography. In the discussion session, she talked about her experience, study and life, and her journey as a female entrepreneur, the difficulties she faced in that journey, and the main factors of success in a business including punctuality and discipline.
