Emirates, AEGEAN announce codeshare partnership

DUBAI, Emirates is activating a new codeshare partnership today with AEGEAN, allowing its customers to benefit from increased connectivity to eight domestic Greek points via Athens, using a single ticket.

Emirates will place its code on AEGEAN operated flights, providing customers with a convenient and seamless booking experience as well as one consistent baggage policy, to popular destinations: Kerkyra, Chania, Irakleion, Mikonos, Thira, Rhodes, Thessaloniki and Alexandropoulos.

Under the codeshare agreement, AEGEAN will also place its code on Emirates-operated flights between Dubai and Athens for their customers to benefit from smooth connections to Dubai and onward.

Travel itineraries can now be booked on emirates.com and aegeanair.com, with travel agents as well as online travel agents (OTAs), for travel immediately.

Starting October 2022, Emirates and AEGEAN will further increase their joint codeshare network to include eight more European regional routes via Athens, including Bucharest, Belgrade and Naples, among others, as well as westwards on Emirates’ flights to New York Newark from Athens, and New York JFK from Milan.

Emirates currently serves Athens with 12 weekly flights operated by a Boeing 777. These additional codeshare routes will be subject to receiving the necessary regulatory approvals.

Through its codeshare agreements with more than 26 carriers, two rail partners as well as 110 interline partners worldwide, Emirates offers its customers truly global connectivity across 6 continents.

Dubai records over AED1.4 billion in real estate transactions Monday

DUBAI, Dubai real estate market recorded 528 sales transactions worth AED1.28 billion, in addition to 91 mortgage deals of AED169.72 million, and 10 gift deals amounting to AED23.06 million on Monday, data released by Dubai’s Land Department (DLD) showed.

The sales included 457 villas and apartments worth AED893.08 million, and 71 land plots worth AED387.16 million, while mortgages included 77 villas and apartments worth AED131.13 million and 14 land plots valued at AED38.59 million, bringing the total realty transactions of today to over AED1.4 billion.

Dubai Police Officer obtains Professorship in Criminology

The Director of the International Centre for Forensic Sciences (ICFS) at Dubai Police has recently obtained a professorship from the Murdoch University, Australia, in recognition for his continuous endeavours and contributions to the academic field of criminology.

Over the past seven years, Lieutenant Colonel Dr Rashid Alghafri, Director of the ICFS and Chairman of the Dubai Police Scientist Council, has been teaching postgraduate students as an assistant professor at the Department of Biology at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). He was also recognised as an associate professor at the Bond University, Australia, for his invaluable published studies, research, and supervision of postgraduate students.

Lt. Col Alghafri has published 45 research papers in leading scientific journals and supervised four PhD students and seven MA students from different universities in and outside the country. As an active Forensic Investigator and Researcher specialising in Forensic Genetics, Lt. Col Alghafri has received 15 awards. He has been invited as a key spokesman in various international, regional and local conferences and forums held in the United States, United Kingdom and Australia.

The Director of the ICFS secured two intellectual properties, one in 2014 and another in 2022, for the male genetic fingerprint, the first of its kind in the world, from the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO). The new genetic fingerprint is considered the most powerful in the world and was featured in a scientific journal and was requested for solving crimes by many policing agencies worldwide.

Upon his recent recognition, Lt. Col Alghafri becomes the first police officer in the UAE to receive a professorship in criminology. He has extended his appreciation to the Dubai Police for its keenness to qualify cadres and allowing them to excel academically and practically.

Meanwhile, Mr James Trotter, Dean and Academic President of the Murdoch University, praised Lt. Col Alghafri’s exertion over the years, pointing out the Force’s undeniable efforts to support and sponsor talents and competencies in all scopes to achieve excellence and pioneering in all the policing fields.

Dubai Police Honours Man for Returning AED 31,000

The Dubai Police have recently honoured Mr Sahil Al Nami for handing over AED 31,000 cash he had found in the jurisdiction area of Bur Dubai Police Station.

Brigadier Abdullah Khadem Al Sorour, Director of the Bur Dubai Police Station, praised Mr Al Nami for his honesty and for handing over the cash to the nearest police station.

Brig. Al Sorour also awarded Mr Al Nami a certificate of appreciation to emphasize the importance of collaboration between the community and police.

Brig. Al Sorour further reaffirmed the Dubai Police’s keenness on strengthening the concept of community partnership and reinforcing the sense of responsibility among individuals.

Mr Al Nami thanked the Dubai Police for honouring him and said this honour gives him great pride and joy.

Six-Year-Old Girl becomes ‘Dubai Police Officer’ for A Day

As a part of their endeavours to spread happiness and positivity among various segments of society, the Dubai Police surprised a 6-year-old Arab on her birthday by appointing her a police officer for one day and giving her a ride in one of the force’s luxury police patrols.

The kind gesture is part of Dubai Police’s ‘Fulfil a Child’s Wish’ initiative, which aims to spread happiness and positivity among children of different ages and nationalities.

In collaboration with Hamleys, the Security Awareness Department at the General Department of Community Happiness attended to the child’s parents’ request who wished to surprise their daughter, Hoor Hadad, on her sixth birthday and fulfilled her wish to be a police officer.

Therefore, a team from the Security Awareness Department visited Hoor’s school to celebrate her birthday among her peers. They gifted the little girl a police uniform and familiarised her with some police duties by offering her a ride in one of Dubai Police’s luxury police patrols.

Hoor and her classmates were also surprised and entertained by a special K9 show by the Security Inspection Department (K9) at Dubai Police.

The child’s parents expressed gratitude to the police for their swift and generous response and for fulfilling their child’s wish, which ensured her happiness and enhanced their sense of safety and security.

Major Ali Youssef Yaqoub, Head of the Cultural Diversity Section at the Security Awareness Department, stressed the Dubai Police’s keenness to enhance security and safety and instil happiness among community members, especially the youth. He explained that the force is also keen on carrying out several events and activities, including Dubai Police’s mascots Mansour and Amna, luxury patrols, K9 shows, and Dubai Mounted Police shows, to entertain and educate children.

Dubai Officer named Health, Safety and Wellbeing Ambassador of the Year

Captain Mansoor Khalfan Al Mansoori of the Dubai Police has recently been named the health, safety and wellbeing ambassador of the year during the British Safety Council (BSC) International Safety Awards 2022.

The BSC highly commended Captain Al Mansoori for his significant role in ensuring colleagues’ and others’ health, safety and wellbeing. He also demonstrated a proactive and effective approach to improving employee wellbeing in 2021.

Captain Al Mansoori, who has 25 years of experience in the field of security and safety, dedicated the prestigious recognition to the Dubai Police, noting that the continuous support of the General Command contributed to his win in the International Safety Awards 2022, which saw some impressive 647 applications from 39 countries.

It is worth mentioning that Captain Al Mansoori has a doctorate in the field of crisis and disaster management and has taken part in more than 100 specialized courses in security inspections at the local and global levels. He has effectively contributed to developing training techniques in the fields of inspection and the search for explosives, as well as dealing with hazardous materials.
