US ambassador confirms his country’s continued support for efforts to establish a transparent and accountable mechanism for disposing of oil revenues.

The US Ambassador and Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, has expressed delight that his recent statements on Libyan oil sparked useful discussions among Libyan leaders.

Ambassador Norland said in a tweet on Twitter published by the US Embassy to Libya, “The issue of how to distribute Libya’s important oil revenues is one of the issues causing the conflict in Libya, and therefore I am pleased that my recent comments have sparked such a beneficial discussion among Libyan leaders.”

Norland reiterated the United States’ continued support for the efforts of the Presidential Council, the Libyan House of Representatives, the Government of National Unity, and others to establish a transparent and accountable mechanism for disposing of revenues.

He added, “We have always believed and declared that only Libyans are capable of deciding this issue and that no foreign parties should control it, and we have noticed real progress on this issue in recent days between the relevant institutions and we encourage the leaders to reach an agreement, and this is an opportunity to build confidence and address important and legitimate concerns about corruption and ensure that the huge revenues that The accumulation of Libya’s continuous oil production benefits all Libyans.

The US ambassador concluded his tweet by welcoming the opportunity to exchange views with Libyan leaders on this important aspect of Libya’s future, he said.

Dabaiba is discussing with Bin Qadara the National Corporation’s plan to increase oil and gas production.

The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, “Abdul Hamid al-Dabaiba,” met with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation, Farhat bin Qadara, at the Prime Minister’s Office in the capital, Tripoli.

The meeting discussed the National Corporation’s plan to increase oil and gas production, and the executive procedures for the sector development plan according to the specified budget.

Al-Dabaiba stressed the need to unify the efforts of all state institutions in favor of the oil and gas sector in order to increase production, and the need to achieve the principle of disclosing the operational and supply expenses of the oil sector.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of achieving the principle of transparency in government spending, noting that the government’s priority is to enable citizens in all regions of the country to benefit from oil revenues.

International Migration: The Coast Guard has returned 7,292 migrants to Libya since the beginning of the year.

The International Organization for Migration announced today, Monday, that 601 migrants were intercepted at sea, from June 25 to July 1, and returned to Libya by the Coast Guard forces.

In its weekly report, the organization said that the year 2023 witnessed, since its inception, the return of 7,292 migrants to Libyan territory, while 780 migrants drowned and 944 others went missing.

Durra offshore field marine area part of Kuwait territory – Kuwait FM

The marine area where Al-Durra offshore field lies is part of State of Kuwait’s sea territories, and its natural resources therein are shared between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, said an official source of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.

It is only the State of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia that have exclusive rights to the natural resource of Al-Durra field, the source said in a press release.

The source reiterated Kuwait’s call on the Iranian side to start negotiations over the demarcation of the marine boundary between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia on the one hand and the Iranian side on the other hand.

Palestinian PM urges friendly countries to help stopping Israeli aggression

Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said Monday that President Mahmoud Abbas, the leadership and the government are following up with the friendly countries to stop the Israeli aggression on the city (Jenin) and its camp.

During a government meeting, Shtayyeh added that the crimes in Jenin, Nablus and Gaza would not bring security to Israel as long as it attacked Palestinian people.

The prime minister also stressed that the Palestinian people would confront this aggression, calling on the international community to stop these crimes, confront the settlers, and impose all possible sanctions against Israel.

Arab League condemns Israeli aggression on Jenin

Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmad Abul-Gheit condemned Monday the Israeli occupation aggression on Jenin, north of the ccupied West Bank, which left several Palestinians dead or injured.

“The Israeli military operation is completely condemnable as bombarding cities and camps and demolishing Palestinian houses and road is a collective punishment and revenge that would only lead to aggravating the situation,” Abul-Gheit said on his twitter account.

He called upon peace advocates in the world to immediately intervene to halt this “criminal act”.

Palestinian Ministry of Health announced earlier Monday that the death toll of the Israili occupation aggression on Jenin had risen to seven deaths.
