UAE market is rich in opportunities for companies operating in aviation sector: Business France


DUBAI: Business France, the agency responsible for fostering export growth by French businesses, facilitating international investment in France, has confirmed that the UAE market is huge and rich in opportunities for companies operating in the aviation sector. The country has a large number of commercial aircraft, and national airlines are actively increasing their fleet sizes and purchasing new aircraft.

Sandra Papet, Head of Industry and Cleantech Department for the UAE, Business France, Middle East, said in a statement to Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the MRO Middle East 2024 exhibition and conference in Dubai: “There are 30 French companies operating in the aviation sector that have established offices in the Middle East, which indicates the importance and diversity of this market for French companies.”

She pointed out that the 12th French participation in the event comes through a comprehensive pavilion with the participation of 22 companies working in the fields of maintenance, rep
air, spare parts, aircraft equipment, and aircraft cabin equipment.

She explained that some of the companies participating in the exhibition are either headquartered in the UAE or work with the region from their headquarters in France, and find in this event a platform to explore business opportunities in the UAE market and the region in general.

She noted that 2023 was a pivotal year in the cooperation between the UAE and France in the aviation sector, pointing to some major projects in the field in which French companies participate with contracts worth billions of dollars.

She pointed to the UAE-French cooperation in the field of transforming the aviation industry towards sustainability, especially at a time when France is investing 1.2 billion euros in more sustainable aviation with a lower carbon footprint by 2030.

Sharjah welcomes over 400,000 European visitors in 2023


BERLIN: The emirate of Sharjah witnessed a significant increase in European guests visiting the emirate in 2023, welcoming more than 400,000 visitors from the European market. This marks a notable 28 percent increase compared to the previous year, with Europeans constituting 27 percent of the total visitor count.

Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) made the announcement during its press conference on Wednesday as part of the authority’s participation in ITB Berlin 2024, the world’s leading travel trade show, which runs until 7 March under the theme ‘Pioneer the Transition in Travel and Tourism. Together’.

As part of its participation, Sharjah is highlighting its comprehensive vision for tourism, showcasing the emirate’s prominent landmarks and unique tourist destinations that have positioned Sharjah as a preferred destination among Europeans, particularly German tourists who rank second in the total number of Western Europe visitors to Sharjah.

ings together 19 government and private entities from the emirate. This collective is showcasing a vibrant array of tourism, hospitality, cultural, and entertainment institutions and facilities, highlighting Sharjah’s rich diversity of destinations, offerings, and services and further cementing its stance as a premier tourist destination in the region.

The emirate’s delegation has also held a series of meetings and engagements with investors and business leaders interested in the tourism and trade sectors, and prospective global partners in tourism, travel, and hospitality management. Additionally, interviews with the European media took place, focusing on Sharjah’s active participation and highlighting the latest innovations and experiences within the emirate’s tourism sector.

Commenting on the participation, Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of SCTDA, said, “The upswing in European market guests stands as a clear testament to the tangible success achieved through our strategic development initiatives, trans

, virtual reality and simulation experiences, and the immersive and life-like metaverse known as ‘SharjahVerse’. Sharjah’s commitment to conserving cultural, environmental, and archaeological treasures, as well as a wide spectrum of experiences for tourists of all interests and ages, is on display for visitors.

Highlights include a thrilling high-speed boat journey with the Sharjah Formula 1 team and a kayaking-simulated adventure in partnership with the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club. Emirates Health Services launches new version of Digital Partnership System


DUBAI: Emirates Health Services (EHS) has launched a new version of its electronic system for partner relationship management, to facilitate communication and collaboration between the EHS and its partner.

The new system elevates the level of services provided to partners in the public and private sectors at local, regional, and international levels, in developing the healthcare sector.

The system’s launch is part of the EHS commitment to enhance the concept of strategic partnerships and expand the scope of partnerships through joint cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with various entities and institutions at local, regional, and global levels. This initiative falls within the Innovation Ecosystem pillar of its ‘2023 – 2026 Innovation Strategy’, where the EHS seeks to enhance the healthcare service system and acquire and exchange experiences and expertise through strategic partnerships.

The release of the new version of the electronic system for managing partnerships comes amidst
partnerships with more than 130 entities, including nearly 37 countries and global institutions, and more than 95 local partnerships and collaborations. It also aligns with its future vision and strategic goals to enhance partner relations and facilitate partnership processes. Additionally, it is in line with its continuous efforts in digital transformation, improving its digital systems, and enhancing its capabilities by providing an integrated digital platform that enables its partners at various levels to easily and efficiently track, manage, and evaluate their partnerships.

Dr. Yousif AlSerkal, Director-General of EHS, highlighted its engagement within a diverse ecosystem and its collaborative partnerships with numerous local and global entities. He emphasised that the new system’s introduction marks a pivotal advancement in fostering transparency and efficiency in partner relationship management. This upgraded version signifies a significant stride in enhancing organisational communication, managing pro
jects and joint initiatives, and formalising MoUs. It plays a vital role in realising the EHS’s strategic goals and bolstering its endeavours to advance the nation’s healthcare sector.

Fatema AlWali, Director of the Strategy and Future Department at EHS, highlighted the fact that the new system integrates many features and functionalities designed to streamline partners’ interactions with the EHS. This system introduces a suite of innovative tools, encompassing registration, partnership application submission, electronic MoU management, real-time project monitoring and updates, collaborative initiatives tracking, and partnership progress tracking. Additionally, it incorporates advanced communication features and notification delivery via an intuitive user interface, promoting seamless and secure information exchange.

The system serves as a key enabler for the EHS in enhancing integration with partners, elevating partner satisfaction levels, and boosting the efficiency and effectiveness of joint activities.
It represents a significant step towards achieving digital transformation in healthcare services and enhancing the quality of healthcare provided.

UAE leaders congratulate President of Ghana on National Day


ABU DHABI: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a message of congratulations to President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana on the occasion of his country’s National Day.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, sent similar messages to President Akufo-Addo.

Dubai Municipality conducts intensive monitoring campaigns for food safety, public health during Ramadan


DUBAI: Dubai Municipality has intensified its monitoring campaigns and inspection visits for food safety and public health during the holy month of Ramadan. The campaigns include various sectors such as Dubai markets, commercial centres, food establishments, food preparation facilities, restaurants, hotels, hypermarkets, and supermarkets.

Additionally, the campaigns further extend to salons, beauty centres, smoking areas in cafes and restaurants, games, and events areas, as well as labour cities and community markets across Dubai.

As part of its commitment to monitoring key sectors during the month of Ramadan, the Municipality is actively overseeing compliance with safety, public health, and food safety standards. This includes strict compliance with approved food safety standards by both events’ owners and employees across the entire food preparation process, storage, preparation, and cooking, placing emphasis on maintaining the quality and validity of the materials used.

Safety Department at Dubai Municipality, underscored the Municipality’s commitment to safeguarding the community against potential food-related risks. The primary objective is to attain the highest standards of health and safety, aligning with the Municipality’s overarching goals of establishing a sustainable food and health system. This initiative aims to enhance standards in public health, improve overall quality of life, and promote well-being within the community.

Al Taher said, ‘The focus points of Ramadan preparations include monitoring of food preparation establishments, meals, and popular kitchens, warehouses, food and consumer complexes, hotels, hypermarkets, and markets. The goal is to ensure that all residents in the Emirate can get nutritious, secure, and safe food that adheres to the highest food safety standards.’

The Municipality has also adjusted the opening times of Al-Quoz, Al-Lesili, Al-Qusais, and Hatta during Ramadan, from 8:00 to 16:00 from Saturday to Thursday. Friday will be between
8:00 and 12:00, and from 14:00 to 16:00.

UAE President receives credentials of foreign ambassadors, UAE Ambassador to Myanmar takes legal oath


ABU DHABI: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan today received the credentials of new foreign ambassadors appointed to serve in the UAE. Moataz Abdullah Al Fahim, UAE Ambassador to Myanmar, also took the legal oath before His Highness the President.

During the ceremony at Qasr Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed the ambassadors, wishing them success in their duties and in advancing relations between the UAE and their respective countries across all fields. His Highness affirmed that UAE entities will support and facilitate their work.

His Highness emphasised the UAE’s dedication to enhancing its ties with countries around the world, grounded in mutual respect, cooperation, and shared interests. He also highlighted the UAE’s efforts to foster development and prosperity for the benefit of all.
