Jordan’s electricity load reaches 3,520mw on Saturday


Amman: Jordan’s electrical load reached 3,520 megawatts on Saturday evening, as reported by the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO).

During this winter season, the maximum load reached its peak at 4,050 megawatts, as per official data.

It is noteworthy that the highest electrical load ever recorded in the Kingdom took place last August, reaching an unprecedented peak of 4,220 megawatts.

Amanat Al-Asimah warns of tires burning dangers on public streetsKing prays for Palestinian Gazans as Muslims welcome Ramadan

The Capital Municipality warned of the dangers of burning tires in neighborhoods and public streets with the advent of the blessed month of Ramadan.

The executive director of the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund at the municipality, Muhammad Sharaf al-Din, confirmed to the Saba that burning tires is a negative phenomenon, causing environmental pollution and harming the health of society.

He called on citizens to cooperate with the concerned authorities to prevent this phenomenon, and to spread community awareness of the dangers of burning tires, and the need to preserve the capital’s environment.

Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah Sunday wrote a post on X praying for Palestinian Gazans as Muslims welcome the holy month of Ramadan.

Israeli forces kill 7 in southern Lebanon


Beirut: Israeli airstrikes Sunday on southern Lebanon killed at least seven people, according to a security official.

A Lebanese security official said the Israeli strikes killed three in a raid that targeted a car on the outskirts of the town of Al-Habbara and four others in raids in the centre of the town.

He added, “Other raids also targeted forests, common areas and the centre of border towns, resulting in serious material damage.”

Grand Mufti announces Tuesday Ramadan’s first day


Amman: Jordan’s Grand Mufti, Ahmed Hasanat, Sunday announced that Tuesday would be the first day of Ramadan.

Hasanat confirmed that the Ramadan crescent was not seen tonight during an event to monitor the crescent of Ramadan held by the Iftaa’ Department at the King Hussein bin Talal Mosque.

NCHR: Jordanian women held key judicial positions


Amman: National Center for Human Rights (NCHR) praised the Kingdom’s measures to empower Jordanian women in the judicial field to assume leadership positions in this sector.

In a statement Sunday on the occasion of International Day of Women Judges (IDWJ), the NCHR said Jordanian women have held multiple positions in the Kingdom’s judicial system at different levels.

The center also valued the Kingdom’s efforts to achieve this goal, based on Jordan’s Constitution and its amendments, which affirmed principle of equality among all Jordanians and backed women empowerment to play an “active” role in building society.

The NCHR added that this policy aimed to guarantee equal opportunities on the basis of justice and fairness and protect women from all forms of violence and discrimination.

In this regard, he pointed to Jordan’s ratification of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, which guaranteed women equal rights in various fields and issuance of new Justice Sector St
rategy for the years (2022-2025) that contributes to build capabilities of Jordanian female judges.

Authorities seize 12 tonnes of adulterated milk in Amman-JFDA


Amman: Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), in partnership with Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN), seized 12 tonnes of adulterated milk and closed the production factory and its unlicensed warehouse on Saturday.

In a press statement on Sunday, JFDA General Director, Nizar Mheidat, said a tight ambush led to seizing two vehicles loaded with an estimated quantity of 2.5 tonnes of adulterated milk and cheeses unfit for human consumption.

The authorities tracked a dairy factory and seized the entire quantity of adulterated milk, which was estimated at about 9.5 tonnes and shut down an unlicensed warehouse, which contained an amount estimated at about 17 tonnes of raw materials and production inputs were seized, he pointed out.

Based on tipoffs, Mheidat noted two vehicles loaded with a quantity of adulterated milk and cheese were seized in two separate locations in the capital, Amman.

The entire quantity, which carried fake brands, was seized for destruction purposes, he said, adding t
hat it was loaded in transport means that do not have the necessary licenses to trade and transport foodstuffs.

Additionally, he said intensive joint efforts helped raid and seal up the plant, which used powdered milk and unpermitted vegetable fats.

He noted the suspects used manufacturing fake identification documents for non-existent factories, printing machines and sticker rolls for counterfeiting, which were seized inside the factory owner’s vehicle.

Consisting of raw materials and production inputs, he noted the entire quantity seized included powdered milk and sodium caseinate for fraud purposes, estimated at 17 tonnes.

The statement stressed that the JFDA has taken the necessary measures against people in charge of the facility.
