NCEMA announces end of weather condition


ABU DHABI: The joint assessment team for meteorological and tropical conditions of the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) announced the end of the severe weather condition that affected the country.

The Authority praised the efforts of concerned parties in mitigating the repercussions resulting from the weather condition, noting that this was achieved through intensifying monitoring and operations in various areas of the country, aiming to take the necessary measures to handle the situation proactively and with flexibility.

Moon-sighting Committee congratulates UAE leadership on advent of Ramadan


ABU DHABI: The committee in charge of sighting the crescent in the UAE under the chairmanship of Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, Minister of Justice, congratulated the UAE leadership on the advent of the holy Month of Ramadan.

‘The Minister of Justice and other members of the committee seize this opportunity to extend their profound greetings and congratulations to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court; and Their Highnesses, Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, and their Crown Princes and Deputies, on the advent of the holy Month of Ramadan,” the committee said in a statement.

The committee announced earlier that Monday, March 11, 2024, is the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.

‘Following established procedures, including astronomica
l observations and consultations with neighbouring countries, the Committee confirms sighting the crescent moon for this year’s Ramadan.’

The Committee also congratulated all Muslims inside and outside the UAE on the holy occasion and prayed to Allah Almighty for peace and tranquillity in the world and for unity among all Muslims of the world.

Abu Dhabi Police implement new traffic regulations for trucks, large worker buses during Ramadan


ABU DHABI: To improve traffic flow during the holy month of Ramadan, Abu Dhabi Police have implemented new restrictions on large vehicles. Trucks and buses transporting 50 or more workers will be prohibited on the Emirate’s roads during designated morning and evening rush hours.

Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate in the Central Operations Sector, Brigadier General Mahmoud Yousef Al Balushi explained that the restrictions apply during rush hours from 8:00 am-10:00 am and again from 2:00 pm- 4:00 pm in both Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

Traffic patrols will be on high alert across all roads, with additional enforcement through smart traffic systems.

Ramadan in UAE: Pleasant weather expected despite gradual temperature rise


ABU DHABI: Mostly pleasant weather conditions are expected throughout Ramadan, with comfortable nights and mornings and a slight increase in temperatures during the latter half of the holy month.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has released its weather forecast for Ramadan, which begins tomorrow, March 11th. According to the NCM, temperatures will generally range between a comfortable 18°C to 21°C during nights and early mornings. However, residents in some inland areas should be prepared for lows as chilly as 3°C.

Daytime highs will start mild, averaging between 29°C and 34°C. However, as Ramadan progresses, temperatures are expected to gradually rise, with some inland areas potentially reaching highs of 45°C.

Rain is unlikely during Ramadan, with the average rainfall for March being a mere 9 mm. While there’s a chance of isolated showers, significant rainfall is uncommon.

Humidity levels will be slightly lower throughout Ramadan, offering some relief during the warmer days. Mornings may still e
xperience patches of fog or mist, but these occurrences will become less frequent as the month progresses. Night and early mornings will see the highest humidity, ranging from 70% to 78%. Daytime humidity will be lower, typically between 20% and 30%.

Wind patterns will follow a predictable pattern, with southerly winds prevailing at night and morning, shifting to north-westerly winds (land and sea breezes) in the afternoons and evenings. Wind speeds can increase with changing pressure systems, occasionally causing dust storms. The average wind speed is around 13 km/h, with the possibility of stronger gusts reaching up to 123 km/h.

Fasting hours will gradually increase throughout Ramadan. The residents can expect fasting periods to begin at around 13 hours and 14 minutes at the start of the month, extending to approximately 13 hours and 57 minutes by the end. This timeframe may vary slightly depending on the specific location.

Overall, the weather forecast suggests a comfortable Ramadan for residents observ
ing the holy month.

Abdullah bin Zayed, Canadian counterpart discuss latest regional developments


DUBAI: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, discussed with Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, the latest developments in the Middle East with a focus in Gaza and its humanitarian repercussions.

This came during Sheikh Abdullah’s reception of Minister Joly in Dubai, where the two sides exchanged views on an array of issues of mutual interest.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed stressed the importance of enhancing the efforts of the international community to reach a sustainable ceasefire, emphasising the urgent priority to scale up the humanitarian response to the needs of the Palestinian people and the need to provide protection for all civilians and end extremism, tension, and violence in the region.

The two ministers also reviewed the initiative recently announced to activate a maritime corridor to deliver more humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The meeting further explored ways to strengthen bilateral relations and the opportunities available to bolster cooperatio
n in several sectors in order to serve the mutual interests of the two countries and their people.

Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the distinguished relations between the two countries, expressing the UAE’s wishes for Canada and its people for continued progress and prosperity.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court sent similar messages to Arab and Muslim leaders on the holy occasion.
