DUBAI: The Emirates News Agency (WAM) organised a roundtable entitled “Shaping Economic Narratives: The Role of News Agencies” as part of Day 1 of the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2024, which kicked off today. The event was attended by a number of officials and directors of news agencies from the Arab region, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The roundtable highlighted the role of news agencies in supporting future economies, promoting innovative business concepts, and their readiness to deal with emerging economic sectors. It also emphasised the role of media professionals in future business journalism, as well as the importance of media partnerships in boosting experience exchange and upskilling young media professionals.

Mohamed Jalal Alrayssi, Director-General of WAM, stressed the key role of news agencies in promoting future business concepts and conveying them to the public effectively. He noted that the media sector is seeing remarkable advancements in keeping
with global technological developments, with the emergence of new technologies in media work utilising artificial intelligence (AI) and data, which will shape the future of business media.

In a statement, Alrayssi said that the roundtable highlighted four key issues, including the importance of engaging with new economic sectors, the challenges and opportunities arising from these sectors, ways to improve business journalism, and the importance of strengthening strategic partnerships between news agencies and various media outlets.

Highlighting the roundtable’s outcomes, Alrayssi explained that the meeting culminated in several recommendations, including the need to train and upskill workers in news agencies and media outlets by concluding partnerships with government and private institutions concerned with business affairs to train journalists on how to deal with data and information related to contemporary economic concepts, including the green economy, digital currencies and AI.

For his part, Mohammed A
bd Rabbo Al Yami, Director-General of the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA), stressed the leading role of news agencies spotlighting new economic models despite challenges. He underscored the need to keep pace with the shifts seen across the contemporary media sector and adapt to new technological developments.

Dr. Farid Ayar, Secretary-General of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA), said that news agencies play a leading role in shaping public opinion on economic trends and the public’s understanding of it. He noted that most of the world’s news agencies have specialised economic departments tasked with preparing economic news and reports.

Grégoire Ndjaka, Chief Executive Officer of the African Union of Broadcasting (AUB), stressed the need to ensure the current capabilities of news agencies and their readiness to cover and interact with emerging economic sectors such as green energy, cryptocurrencies and industries based on AI.

For his part, Adrian Wells, Enex’s Managing Director, pointed to the g
rowing interest in new and future economies, noting that the opening session of the World Governments Summit highlighted the digital economy and AI, which are two of the main pillars of the economy of the future.

Sana Ali , Director, Pakistan Press Foundation stressed the importance of cooperative efforts between news agencies, government institutions and economic entities and their potential impact on supporting and promoting future economies. She pointed to the need to work on exchanging best practices and successful case studies of partnerships that lead to the formation of clear and useful economic visions.

Elena Savova. Deputy Head Economy News Desk. Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), stressed the need to prepare media professionals to work in business journalism with a focus on future trends and innovations. She pointed to the need for development programmes to enhance the skills of journalists covering economic fields.

The Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed. Abdul Malik Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi, called on the masses of the Yemeni people to go out in million-person tomorrow afternoon, Friday, in the capital Sana’a and the rest of the governorates in solidarity with the Palestinian people and their just cause and valiant resistance.

The Leader of the Revolution said in a speech this evening on the latest developments, “I call you the call of God, the Qur’an and Islam, and I call you the call of Al-Aqsa, and the groans and pains and hunger of the Palestinian people to exit in million-person protest honorable tomorrow afternoon, Friday, in Sana’a and the rest of the provinces.”

He addressed the masses of the Yemeni people, “It is hoped that tomorrow you will return to the ears of the world the position of Miqdad and the position of Saad bin Muadh in the Great Battle of Badr, the battle continues and not from religion or loyalty or magnanimity or manhood put up flags nor evacuate the squares nor ignore the tragedy of the Palestini
an people, you are the people of virility, loyalty and magnanimity, you are Yemen of faith and the people of steadfastness and you are today the hope of the vulnerable and oppressed.”

The leader urged the need for the popular momentum to remain parallel to the level and military position targeting the Israeli enemy, and that there be continuity in the weekly million-person protest exodus, adding, “Let your exit be as much as the hope in you and in a way that embodies belonging to great values and faith.”

“Our human conscience, our religion, our morals, our dignity, our pride, our belonging to Islam, it is forbidden for us to watch the oppression of Palestine or to be silent about it, and the siege and starvation of the people of Gaza must stop, and the tragedy of the starvation of children in the Gaza Strip must stop,” he said.

The leader of the revolution stressed that the armed forces and the Yemeni people continue the battle of “the promised conquest and holy jihad” to support the Palestinian people.

DUBAI: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has endorsed the first version of Rail Agency No Objection Certificate Submission Guidelines. This guide provides instructions for contractors, consultants, and individuals who need permits to carry out infrastructure projects within the rail right-of-way zone.

RTA is committed to streamlining procedures and improving services for its customers. The Guide offers a concise outline of the necessary documents for acquiring the service, ensuring they adhere to the Rail Agency’s standards. This proactive approach enhances the likelihood of transaction approval on the initial submission.

The guide aims to simplify procedures, increase transparency, enhance efficiency, and reduce service time to achieve customer satisfaction for infrastructure projects, and is an essential tool for contractors and consultants and provides clear guidance to those wishing to obtain the necessary permits for infrastructure projects, which contributes to streamlining operations.

The
guide has been made available on the RTA website (https://www.rta.ae/links/rail-noc.pdf) to make it easier for customers to access and benefit from the guide provided by the Rail Agency at RTA.

Abdulrahman Mohammad Aljanahi, Director of Rail Right of Way at RTA’s Rail Agency said that this measure significantly expedites project timelines in Dubai and elevates the standard of services offered, underscoring its pivotal role in empowering both partners and customers. ‘By providing essential information and guidance for NOC transactions, RTA amplifies efficiency and effectiveness in project execution while fostering stronger partnerships and customer satisfaction.’

Aljanahi, emphasised that this guide robustly bolsters real estate development and investment within the Emirate of Dubai, playing a vital role in fortifying the infrastructure framework and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents in the emirate.

Marib Governorate witnessed today six mass marches under the slogan “Ramadan Yemen… A flood triumphs for Gaza.”

Where the people of the districts of the Southern Square gathered in a mass march in Al-Juba Square, in which the participants chanted slogans of innocence from America and Israel, condemning the continued Zionist massacres against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

The people of Sirwah district went out in a mass march in the presence of the governor of the province, Ali Taiman, during which they blessed the qualitative operations of the Yemeni armed forces in support of Gaza. We call for more support and deterrence operations until the aggression stops and the siege on the Gaza Strip is lifted.

The masses gathered from the people of the northern square in the square of a massacre, affirmed their support for the decision of the leader of the revolution to expand military operations to the Indian Ocean to prevent the passage of Israeli ships in support of the Palestinian people.

In Har
ib al-Qaramish district, the people of the district gathered in a mass march during which they confirmed the continuation of marches, events and general mobilization campaigns in support of the brothers in Gaza. Considering this one of the greatest closeness to God in the month of jihad and fasting.

During a march and a pause after Friday prayers, the people of Bidbideh district renewed the call to the peoples of the Arab and Islamic nation to exert efforts to support the Palestinian people by various means and capabilities.

A statement issued by a march in the Qaniya region called for a complete boycott of American and Israeli goods and companies supporting them, as a jihad for the sake of God and accessible to all.

The districts and cities of Al-Bayda Governorate witnessed mass marches and vigils in support of the Palestinian cause and condemnation of the massacres of the Zionist enemy in the Gaza Strip, and in defiance of the US-British aggression on Yemen under the slogan (Ramadan Yemen.. a flood wins for Gaza).

The participants in the marches and vigils presented by the governor of Al-Bayda Abdullah Idris, the governor’s agents, public mobilization officials, local and executive leaders, social figures and scholars, carried the Yemeni and Palestinian flags and chanted slogans condemning the crimes and massacres of the Zionist occupation against the people of Gaza and the occupied territories.

A statement issued by the marches and stops blessed the qualitative operations of the armed forces in targeting American, British and Israeli ships or heading to the Zionist enemy.

The statement declared full readiness to confront the forces of global arrogance and make sacrifices for the sake of victory for Al-Aqsa and Gaza
and in support of the valiant resistance.

The participants blessed the decisions taken by the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed. Abdul Malik Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi, within the framework of Yemen’s participation in the battle of “Al-Aqsa Flood” and the announcement of the expansion of the battle to the Indian Ocean until the aggression is stopped and the siege on the Gaza Strip is lifted.
