Warm weather forecast across Jordan until Saturday

Amman: The Jordan Meteorological Department anticipates above-average temperatures across the kingdom on Wednesday, with warm conditions prevailing in most regions. The maximum temperatures are forecast to surpass typical seasonal averages by approximately 6-7 degrees Celsius, with cloud cover at medium and high altitudes.

On Thursday, a slight temperature decrease is anticipated, although warm weather will persist across most areas, with some high-altitude clouds in the eastern parts of the country. Winds are expected to be moderate, shifting from west to northwest, occasionally stirring up dust, particularly in desert regions.

Friday will see a further dip in temperatures, with sunny and mild conditions prevailing in mountainous areas and warm weather elsewhere. Moderate northwest winds are forecast.

Temperature ranges for today in East Amman are projected between 31-19 degrees Celsius, while West Amman expects temperatures of 29-17 degrees Celsius. In the northern highlands, temperatures will range from
28-16 degrees Celsius, and in the Sharah Mountains, temperatures will range from 27-15 degrees Celsius. Other temperature ranges include 36-21 degrees Celsius in northern valleys, 38-24 degrees Celsius in southern valleys, 37-22 degrees Celsius at the Dead Sea, and 37-23 degrees Celsius in the Gulf of Aqaba.

KPC launches unified e-commerce platform

Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) launched a unified electronic commerce platform for the oil sector to facilitate and develop relations between the corporation and its subsidiaries on one hand and its partners inside and outside on the other.

Speaking in a festival by the corporation in Ahmadi City, CEO of KPC Sheikh Nawaf Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah said the platform is the first phase of the “smart purchasing” initiative.

He added that it is a digital transformation initiative aimed at embodying the corporation’s vision to benefit from innovation and the optimal use of technology, and maximizing profitability.

The corporation has worked for years to set a technological and innovative plan, as he said, noting that the initiative established a unified system through which digitalization and import operations are provided.

He elaborated that the initiative also seeks to reduce risks, and ensures information and data in purchase.

The success of digital transformation projects depend on three factors; the ab
ility to manage changes, team works and excellence, Sheikh Nawaf said.

He stressed that such factors ensure supporting and developing national economy through innovation and technology in gas and oil industry.

He lauded action system, which made this progress, mainly the supreme purchase committee which played a great role in developing the commercial sector and Kuwait National Petroleum Company.

Meanwhile, Kholoud Al-Mutairi, deputy CEO and head of high guidelines committee, said working on implementing this huge project started in 2022.

The project included 158 workers within 26 teams and committees, while the number of users of this system hit 7,000, she noted.

The festival witnessed a short documentary on challenges facing the team works and how they overcame them.

Jordanian expats in Qatar send home $125 mln in Q1 2024

Doha: Jordanians working in Qatar sent home approximately $125 million (JD88.6 million) in the first quarter of 2024, as reported on Wednesday by officials and representatives from Qatar-based exchange firms.

This signifies a 4.1 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023, during which remittances stood at around $120 million (JD85 million). Notably, there was a significant upsurge from the first quarter of 2022, when transfers amounted to around $110 million (JD78 million).

Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) in Doha, they highlighted the ongoing growth in financial transfers from Jordanian workers, reflecting an increase in their numbers, which currently stands at approximately 75,000.

Jordanian nationals engage in various commercial and economic sectors in Qatar, with a significant concentration in education and healthcare.

The Qatari grant aimed at creating 20,000 job opportunities for Jordanian youth, was approved in two stages. Half of this initiative has already been implemented, p
roviding around 10,000 jobs for Jordanians in Qatar’s labor market by the end of 2022.

JTB wins Best Foreign Marketing Campaign Award in Greece

Amman: The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) has been honored with the award for the Best Foreign Marketing Campaign in Greece. This accolade was announced during the Tourism Awards 2024 ceremony organized by the Greek Tourism Association and supported by the Greek Ministry of Tourism.

In a statement on Wednesday, JTB Director-General Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat expressed his satisfaction with the achievement, highlighting the board’s success in fulfilling its promotional objectives. He emphasized the importance of this recognition, noting how it validates the effectiveness of the board’s strategic plans and its ability to attract tourists.

According to a statement, Airport International Group Foundation (AIGF) – the executive arm of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities – secured a 92/100 rating.
