Ministers of cabinet affairs of UAE, Bahrain discuss cooperation

DUBAI, Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and Hamad bin Faisal Al Malki, Minister of Cabinet Affairs of Bahrain, discussed strengthening the cooperation between their ministries.

The meeting’s participants addressed the relations between the UAE and Bahrain, especially in light of the support of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, as well as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

The two sides then discussed their cooperation in modernising government work and exchanging expertise in all areas, to improve government performance and provide the best services.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Ambassador of Bahrain to the UAE, Mariam Adnan Al Ansari, Assistant Under-Secretary for Projects at the Bahraini Prime Minister Office for Project Affairs, Maryam Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of the UAE Cabinet, and a number of officials.

Ahmed Al Jarwan, President of Tatarstan discuss cooperation in tolerance, peace

DUBAI, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, and Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan, discussed opportunities for cooperation between the council and Tatarstan.

During the meeting, Al Jarwan talked about the council’s main activities and its efforts to promote the values of tolerance and peace worldwide, in addition to a range of initiatives and projects that the council is engaged in.

He also expressed his appreciation for the key role of Tatarstan and its various institutions in supporting security, stability, tolerance and peace, and invited Minnikhanov to appoint a member of Tatarstan’s parliament to join the Global Parliament for Tolerance and Peace.

Minnikhanov lauded the council’s efforts to spread the culture of tolerance and peaceful coexistence around the world and thanked Al Jarwan for his keenness to establish a partnership with Tatarstan’s state institutions.

He then invited Al Jarwan and the council to participate in the “Islamic Forum” in Tatarstan on 18th May, 2023.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides exchanged souvenir gifts.

UAE receives Arab support for candidacy for membership in Executive Office of General Assembly of UN-Habitat 2023

CAIRO, On behalf of Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Mohammed Al Mansouri, Director of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, headed an Emirati delegation participating in the 39th Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Construction held in Egypt, under the presidency of Dr. Assem El Gazzar, Egyptian Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities.

The event was attended by Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, and Arab ministers of housing and construction, as well as Ibrahim Mohammed Al Hosani, Director of the Sharjah Housing Programme, and several housing officials in the country.

During the event, the UAE received Arab support for its candidacy for membership in the Executive Office of the General Assembly of UN-Habitat 2023 and announced the completion of its regional plan to reduce carbon emissions and implement the objectives of the Paris Agreement by 2050.

The event also showcased several successful Arab housing projects, as part of an exhibition held on its sidelines.

In his statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Al Mansouri highlighted the importance of strengthening the cooperation between Arab countries in housing and urban development to address current and future challenges.

He also stressed that housing and urban development are two issues of high priority for the UAE’s leadership, headed by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates.

As part of the efforts of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, represented by the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, to strengthen the government housing sector, and in line with the directives of the UAE’s leadership, the programme issued 2,983 housing assistance decisions since the last May, with a total value of AED2.374 billion. This brought the percentage of adherence to its announced plan to more than 99 percent, while the total number of government housing decisions in the current year amounted to 565, with a value of AED452 million.

The total number of decisions issued by the programme in 2022 amounted to 3,571, valued at AED2.842 billion.

UAE Ambassador presents credentials to President of Costa Rica

SAN JOSÉ, Rawdha Mohamed Alotaiba presented her credentials as UAE Ambassador to Costa Rica to Rodrigo Chaves Robles, President of the Republic of Costa Rica, at the presidential palace in the capital San José.

During the meeting, Alotaiba conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, as well as their wishes to President Chaves and the people of Costa Rica for further development and prosperity.

In turn, President Chaves conveyed his greetings to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and expressed his wishes for the people of the UAE to achieve further growth and prosperity.

President Chaves wished Alotaiba success in her efforts to enhance ties between the two countries while highlighting his country’s readiness to support her in her duties.

For her part, Alotaiba expressed her pride at representing the UAE in Costa Rica and underscored her keenness to continue developing bilateral relations in key fields to strengthen friendship between the two countries.

During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations in order to achieve the aspirations of the two countries and peoples.

UAE Ambassador meets Bangladeshi Foreign Minister

DHAKA, Abul Kalam Abdul Momen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, met with Abdulla Ali Al Hamoudi, UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh, and discussed a number of issues of mutual interest.

During the meeting, they discussed enhancing cooperation between the two countries, ways to elevate trade and economic exchange, food security, renewable energy, and participation in COP28 that will be hosted by the UAE in 2023 at Expo City Dubai.

They also addressed leveraging opportunities in all fields to enhance cooperation and achieve further prosperity for the two countries.
