Prince Ali Patronizes Youth Empowerment Film, Song Award Ceremony

Amman: His Royal Highness Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, Chair of the Royal Film Commission of Jordan, presided over an award ceremony for the fourth edition of the “Youth Empowerment Film and Song Competitions” on Monday evening at the King Hussein Business Park Theater.

The event, themed “The Power of Resilience,” organized by the “Mentor Arabia” Foundation in collaboration with the Royal Film Commission of Jordan, celebrated 20 talented young individuals aged 18-30 from various Arab countries who excelled in categories like Fiction Short Films, documentaries, entertainment films, and songs.

In attendance were Her Royal Highness Princess Rym Ali and His Royal Highness Prince Abdullah bin Ali, alongside Minister of Youth Muhammad Nabulsi. Four special prizes were also conferred upon young Palestinian talents under the theme “Mental Health of Youth.”

Concurrently, a symposium titled “Mental Health, Youth, Drama, and Songs,” organized by the Foundation in partnership with Zain Jordan, featured discussions invol
ving jury members.

Ahmed bin Mohammed attends opening of third World Police Summit

DUBAI: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, attended the opening of the third World Police Summit, being held under the theme ‘Uniting Global Police Forces for a Safer Tomorrow’.

The three-day summit, hosted by the Dubai Police from 3 to 7 March at the Dubai World Trade Centre, features the participation of more than 65 countries, over 170 speakers, more than 70 security leaders, and 130 exhibitors.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, and police leaders, security experts and professionals from across the world.

The World Police Summit brings together prominent police and security leaders, global law enforcement agencies, and experts to foster collaboration and information exchange, and discuss the latest developments and challenges in t
he field. The summit aims to address the most pressing global challenges in combating crime and enhancing security and safety in communities.

In his opening address, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police extended a warm welcome to participating delegates. He said that guided by the leadership’s vision, major international and regional events and conferences hosted by Dubai and the UAE continue to promote sharing of new ideas, trends and best practices that can accelerate growth in vital sectors.

‘Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the summit aims to explore new approaches to addressing major challenges faced by law enforcement agencies through workshops and sessions. The event will also see the launch of more than 10 awards in criminal, traffic and community fields,” he said.

Calling Dubai a city of the future and a land of opportunity, he said innovation and creativity are integral to its ethos and id
entity. He mentioned Dubai Police’s recent launch of the Drone Box, an AI-powered platform for launching drones that has reduced average emergency response time to one minute and 13 seconds, across a total of 2,679 incidents reported. The security coverage of the platform will reach 50% of Dubai’s urban areas by the middle of this year. Dubai Police is one of the world’s first police forces to deploy this system.

He cited the floating Smart Police Station set to be launched soon as an example of the innovation fostered by the government’s vision. The first initiative of its kind, the floating station, located 10 km off the coast of Dubai, will offer 46 main services in criminal and security fields in seven different languages. The facility is expected to serve more than 500,000 people by 2030.

He also affirmed Dubai Police’s commitment to enhancing the capabilities of its human resources, which he said is the main driver of excellence. He emphasised that ensuring the perfect balance between work and mental
and physical wellbeing is vital to enhancing employee loyalty. He highlighted the story of a Dubai Police employee who was injured on the job while performing his national duty, and how Dubai Police took care of his psychological and physical rehabilitation.

In his speech, Al Marri also congratulated the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) in the United States of America on the occasion of its 131st anniversary set to be marked in May.

Al Marri further expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the leadership for the unlimited support they have extended to all government entities and task forces in Dubai.

The first day of the World Police Summit featured a Crime Prevention Conference, which kicked off with a session titled ‘The Evolution of International Collaboration Against Crime’. The session highlighted the importance of establishing a framework for collaboration between various stakeholders in crime prevention. Jordan Armed Forces Conduct Eight Airdrops North of Gaza

Amman: Under royal directives and as part of its ongoing efforts to increase aid to the Gaza Strip, the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army, conducted eight joint airdrops on Tuesday, marking the largest such operation since the commencement of relief efforts.

This coordinated effort involved three C130 aircraft from the Royal Jordanian Air Force, along with three American, one Egyptian, and one French aircraft. Relief supplies, including provisions from the World Food Program (WFP), were delivered to various locations in northern Gaza.

These airdrops are a continuation of Jordan’s commitment to providing medical, relief, and food aid to the people of Gaza, aimed at alleviating the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

The Armed Forces reiterated their dedication to conducting airlift operations, utilizing the Marka Airport to El Arish International Airport as well as airdrops over Gaza.

Since the onset of Israeli aggression on Gaza, the Jordan Armed Forces have execute
d 28 airdrop missions, in addition to 15 airdrops conducted in collaboration with partner nations.

Rulers of the Emirates condole with Saudi King on death of Prince Turki bin Abdullah

EMIRATES: Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates have sent separate condolence messages to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia on the death of Prince Turki bin Abdullah bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The messages were sent by Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members, the Rulers of the Emirates, Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi of Sharjah, Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi of Ajman, Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi of Fujairah, Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla of Umm Al Qaiwain, and Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi of Ras Al Khaimah.

Their Crown Princes and deputy rulers also sent similar cables to the Saudi King.

FM Meets Egyptian Nominee for UNESCO Director-General Role

Amman: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, met with Khaled Anani, former Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, and the Egyptian nominee for the Director-General position at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

During the meeting, Safadi reiterated Jordan’s endorsement of Anani’s candidacy, highlighting ongoing coordination between the two nations to ensure the success of his nomination. This effort aligns with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The Arab Foreign Ministers Council, in its 160th regular session in September 2023, endorsed Anani for the role of UNESCO Director-General for the term 2025-2029.
