Tripoli: GNU Minister of Interior, Imad Trabelsi, said Libya had repatriated 10.000 illegal migrants last year, stressing that this phenomenon had become an obsession troubling Libya and the Mediterranean countries, and it worsened with the absence of a plan to address it, calling for mobilization of all security, political, and military authorities to reduce the danger of the influx of migrants.

Trabelsi’s statements came during a session organized yesterday by the GNU Ministry of the Interior about its vision to enhance security and integrate border management to reduce illegal migration, under the slogan (Optimal solutions for border management for a better future.

Trabelsi said that Libya had repatriated 10.069 illegal immigrants last year in coordination with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), expressing that this number will double this year if the necessary capabilities and conditions are available.

Trabelsi indicated the positive results achieved by security campaigns to control hu
man smuggling gangs after securing the borders and preventing the increase in the number of illegal migrants.

Al-Trabelsi pointed out that a committee was formed from the Ministries of Interior and Labor to regulate expatriate workers, and residency permits had been granted to about 400,000 expatriate workers of different nationalities.

UAE President bestows Order of Zayed upon Emir of Kuwait and is awarded Order of Mubarak the Great

ABU DHABI: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan today awarded His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait, the Order of Zayed in appreciation of the strong fraternal relations that unite the two countries and the efforts of His Highness the Emir of Kuwait to enhance these ties. This award is the highest honour bestowed by the UAE on heads of state, kings, and leaders.

His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah awarded His Highness the President the Order of Mubarak the Great in appreciation of His Highness’ role in strengthening the fraternal relations between the two countries and for his dedicated efforts to foster unity and solidarity among member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The award ceremony took place at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi during a state visit by His Highness the Emir of Kuwait to the UAE.

ABU DHABI: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held discussions today with His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of the State of Kuwait, to review the deep-rooted relations between the two countries and their peoples. Their Highnesses also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of shared interest.

The meeting took place at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, where His Highness Sheikh Mohamed welcomed His Highness Sheikh Mishal and his delegation to their second home, the UAE. UAE, Egypt airdrop second batch of humanitarian aid in northern Gaza, as part of Operation ‘Birds of Goodness’

ABU DHABI: The Joint Operations Command of the Ministry of Defence has announced the completion of the second airdrop of humanitarian and relief aid by the UAE Air Force and the Egyptian Air Force in the northern Gaza Strip, as part of the “Birds of Goodness” operation. The operation aims to alleviate the suffering of the war-ravaged Palestinian people.

Joint teams from both countries carried out the operation using three aircraft carrying about 42 tonnes of food and medical aid, bringing the total to 78 tonnes since the operation was launched.

Operation “Birds of Goodness” is part of the ‘Gallant Knight 3’ humanitarian operation, which was launched on 5th November 2023, in line with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The operation, which will run for several weeks, showcases the level of UAE-Egypt coordination to support the people of Gaza. It also comes within the framework of Arab solidarity to help the Palestinian people in light of the dire circumstances in th
e Gaza Strip.

This humanitarian operation reflects the determination of the United Arab Emirates and the Arab Republic of Egypt to provide all forms of humanitarian support to the Palestinian people and overcome the challenges to alleviate their suffering.

Emir of Kuwait departs UAE

ABU DHABI: His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait, today departed from the UAE following his state visit to the country.

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, was present to bid farewell to the Emir of Kuwait.

Saqr Ghobash receives Speaker of Jordan’s House of Representatives

ABU DHABI: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), today received Ahmed Safadi, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Jordan, and his delegation currently visiting the UAE.

The meeting explored the current cooperation between the UAE and Jordan in various areas, to fulfil the goals of their leaderships and the hopes of both nations, and strengthen the bonds of friendship and partnership between their governments and leaders. The meeting also stressed the need to strengthen and advance their overall relations.

The two sides highlighted the importance of strengthening their parliamentary relations and coordinating their stances on various issues of common interest, most notably Arab national security, Arab solidarity, and the mutual support, cooperation, and coordination between the two sides, in light of their distinguished overall ties.

Ghobash affirmed the need for the FNC and the Jordanian House of Representatives to cooperate and share parliamentary visits, knowledge, and exper
tise, to benefit the two countries and their peoples, especially amid global developments and challenges that demand unified stances and approaches on various common issues.

Safadi said the deep-rooted relations between the UAE and Jordan are a leading regional model of close bilateral ties, which are based on a shared history and common goals and visions and guided by the mutual keenness of their leadership to advance their relationship.

Jordan appreciates the support provided by the UAE in various fields, stressing the deep-rooted relations that bring the two countries together, and the importance of strengthening their parliamentary cooperation, supporting their joint parliamentary committees, and building on their strategic relations to benefit the two friendly countries and their peoples.
