Kuwait: 26th Gulf Football Cup’s new date on Dec 21

KUWAIT, The Kuwaiti Football Association announced, Tuesday, the Gulf Football Association had made the decision to amend the start date of the Gulf Cup 26, kick starting December 21, 2024 until January 3, 2025, in Kuwait.

This came in a statement by the Kuwaiti Football Association on social media platform (X), where Gulf Cup 26 dates were amended from December 13-26.

It is worthy to mention that the Gulf Football association had chosen the Gulf Cup games to be held in Kuwait for the fifth time, dating back to 1974, 1990, 2003, and 2017.

Kuwait is the current record holder with the most Gulf Cup titles, winning 10 times, with Iraq coming in next with four wins, Saudi Arabia and Qatar three wins, Oman and the UAE 2 wins, and finally one win for Bahrain.

Draw for 46th Amir Cup for Men’s Volleyball to be Held Wednesday


Doha: The draw for the 46th Amir Cup for men’s volleyball for the 2023/2024 season will be held on Wednesday.

The draw will take place at the headquarters of the Qatar Volleyball Association (QVF) with the participation of the top four teams in the general league for this season: Al Arabi (defending champion), Al Rayyan, Qatar Club, and Al Shorta.

The complete list of teams participating in the current edition of the Cup was determined with the qualification of four teams: Al Sadd, Al Ahli, Al Wakrah, and Al Gharafa.

The Amir Cup for men’s volleyball is set to be held from May 7 to 17.

Aspire Zone Foundation Concludes Ramadan Sports Festival


Doha: Aspire Zone Foundation concluded its Ramadan Sports Festival, with the participation of over 650 male and female athletes. They competed across five categories: Mens competitions, Ladies competitions, Youth competitions (Males and Females) and Special Needs Competitions.

As part of the cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Aspire Ramadan Festival witnessed the continuation of Embassies Football Tournament Six-a-side on a natural grass pitch with the participation of 12 teams.

The team of the Embassy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan succeeded in winning the title by defeating the team of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran with a score of 5-0.

The Table Tennis (Special Needs) Tournament, in collaboration with the Qatar Paralympic Committee, the Qatar Social and Cultural Center for the Deaf, the Qatar social and Cultural Center for the Blind, witnessed intense competition among all players during the matches, held at the Woman’s Sports Hall with the participation of 42 playe
rs across 5 categories for differently abled individuals (standing, sitting, visual, and cognitive). This falls within Aspire Zone Foundation’s effort to provide an opportunity for all members of the community to enjoy the atmosphere of sports during Ramadan, regardless of their skills and physical abilities.

At the conclusion of the competitions, player Ibrahim Al Hammadi claimed the first place in the cognitive disability category, with Mohammed Moussa taking second place, and Mohammed al Mahmoud securing third place.

In the visually impaired category competitions, player Ikrami Ahmed claimed the first place, with player Ahmed Al Kubaisi securing second place, and player Abdulrahman Sami coming in third.

In the competitions of the hearing impairment category, player Ebrahim Massad Toufiq clinched the first place, with the player Rupa Mangalath securing second place, and player Shivas Kondabolu taking third place.

In the physical impaired (standing) category, player Khalifa Al Nuaimi clinched the first p
lace, with player Ali Rashid securing second place, and player Fawzi Jouahi coming in third.

In the seated disability category, player Ahmed Issa claimed the first place, with the player Mohammed Al Kubaisi Securing second place.

The 3X3 basketball tournament for men and women witnessed strong participation from all teams, in collaboration with Qatar Basketball Federation. It took place at the Woman’s Sports Hall from March 18 to 20.

In the men’s competition, team Jags clinched the first place, with Qatar Foundation coming in second, and Doha Suns securing third place. On the individua level, Sergjan Toleik won the best Dunk award, while Andrius Banys claimed the Best Three-Point Shooter award.

The Ladies tournament witnessed the participation of 8 Teams of adults and 7 Youth Teams. The results of Ladies competitions were as follows: Katara Team in the first place, Al Gharafa Team in second place and SportLab securing third place. On the individual level, Josette Anaswem won the best Three-Point Shooter a
ward.

As for Youth results, SportsLab team claimed first place this time, Al Gharafa in second place and QFteam in third place.

This year, the Aspire Ramadan Festival hosted the five-a-side hockey competitions with the participation of 150 male and female players of various ages. The competitions were divided into 3 categories: men, youth, and women, with matches held at the public courts of the foundation.

In the men’s category, Team Msaied emerged as champions after defeating Team Lusail 2-1 in the final match.

In the youth category, Team Al Sadd emerged victorious over Team Al Wakrah in the final match with a score of 1-0.

Mohsen Salman Al Sharshani, A player from the Qatar youth national team, claimed the top scorer title in both the men’s and youth competitions combined.

In the woman’s and girls category, Team United emerged as the sole victor over Doha Team in the final match with a score of 4-0.

The table tennis tournament for men and women took place at the tennis court in the woman’s sports ha
ll from March 16th to 22nd, featuring intense competition with the participation of 11 players from various age groups of both genders.

In the men’s competition, David Raducan cleaned the 1st place over Elias Ljume, Alexey Smirnov Secured the 1st place over Ainesh Batnike, Kamondanai Singsrikarn won the first place over Mark Grero, and Daniel Baker emerged victorious over Yousef Al-Musallami.

As for the women’s competition, Yasmine Qasi Abdullah clinched the 1st place over Anaya Rawalji, Eva Savinao won the first place over Lina Ramadan, and Henrietta Anna Boxsack secured the 1st place over Aya Sweid.

The foundation organized the Padel tournament competitions for women, held from March 15th to the 17th at the Padel IN courts.

The team of Badria Al Jassar and Marwa Baghothi claimed the first place, while the team of Buthaina Al Kuwari and Rawda Al-Suwaidi secured the second place. The 3rd place was won by the team of Mona Al Attiyah and Noor Al Kuwari.

Khalifa bin Tawar Al Kuwari Ramadan Padel Tournament Concludes


Doha: The fourth edition of the Khalifa bin Tawar Al Kuwari Ramadan Open Padel Tournament concluded Monday on the courts of the Sheraton Doha Hotel.

The event was organized by the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation (QTSBF).

QTSBF Secretary General Tariq Zainal praised the strong technical level demonstrated by the players participating in the tournament, which has become one of the prominent local tournaments that attracts professional players as well as amateurs.

Ramadan Officers Football Championship 2024 Wraps Up


Doha: The Ramadan officers football championship 2024 concluded in the attendance of HE Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces, Staff Lieutenant-General (Pilot) Salem bin Hamad bin Aqeel Al Nabit.

The event saw gripping competitions among 13 participating sides. The Qatar Amiri Air Force team defeated the Police College team in the final.

HE the Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces crowned the winners.

11th Ashghal Ramadan Tournament Concludes


Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) crowned on Monday winners at the 11th Ashghal Ramadan Tournament as the multi-sport event wrapped up.

Several Ashghal officials and representatives of the participating companies attended the award ceremony for the winners in the competitions of football, basketball, table tennis, PlayStation – FIFA, and Baby foot.

Director of the tournament, Mohammed Majid Al Muhannadi said the event brought together over 600 players from the Ashghals various departments and other participating companies and a large crowd turn-out.

He added that the tournament organizing committee was keen to diversify the competitions to guarantee a huge participation, as part of its efforts to motivate the practice of sports and boost collaboration between Ashghal staffers and the companies cooperating with it.

Meanwhile, President of the Qatar Basketball Federation, Mohammed Saad Al Mughaiseeb hailed the cooperation between the Federation and the Ashghal to organize basketball competitions, p
ointing out that the competitions featured 18 teams in a reflection of the growing passion for this important sport in Qatar.
