The higher management team at Dubai Customs continues their tours to customs centers in the emirate to check on the readiness and service offerings of these centers. H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs, CEO of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, accompanied by members of the Government Department’s senior leadership team, made an evening tour to Jebel Ali and TECOM Customs Center.

His Excellency met with Rashid Saif Al-Suwaidi, (Acting) Director of Sea Customs Management, and Fuad Al-Suwaidi, customer service senior manager at Jebel Ali and TECOM Customs Center.

Musabih toured the center, and he was briefed on the workflow and procedures taken to ensure smooth and quality services are provided to clients. This falls within a wider vision of the Government Department to shoulder the government efforts in achieving the targets of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which seeks to see Dubai double its external trade to AED25 trillion in the next ten years.

“We continuously develop and update the services and facilities provided to clients to meet the growth in Dubai external trade,” said Musabih. “For this, we regularly check on the performance of our customs centers’ operations. Jebel Ali and TECOM Customs Center plays a key role in supporting growth of Dubai trade by facilitating operations at Jebel Ali port and Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA). We pay special attention to developing and refining the skills of the staff at the center through regular training workshops and courses using the latest AI technologies including sophisticated scanner systems which have a capacity of scanning 500 containers per hour.”

For his part, Rashid Saif Al-Suwaidi said; “Jebel Ali and TECOM Customs Center has progressed noticeably in 2022. The Center completed 2.601 million declarations for goods that weighed 9.374 billion kg and 208.9 thousand inspection operations, and made 326 seizures in 2022.”
