Eighth Linguistic Council prioritises enhancing teachers’ skills

SHARJAH: The 8th Linguistic Council, convened in Sharjah, focused on the enhancement of teachers’ proficiency and nurturing their skills to effectively cater to the diverse needs of students.

Dr. Sawsan Al Makni, Founder of the “Future Institute in Paris”, underscored the pivotal role of teachers in acknowledging the individuality of each student.

Central to this approach is prioritising students’ well-being, nurturing their inherent talents, and offering guidance to facilitate their holistic development. Additionally, Dr. Al Makni emphasised the imperative of addressing issues of educational neglect, which erode the ethical, scientific, and procedural foundations of the educational system.

The insightful discourse unfolded during a scientific lecture organised by the Arabic Language Academy as part of the “8th Linguistic Council,” themed, “The Successful Arabic Language Teacher… Preparation and Methods.”

Dr. Mohamed Safi Al Mosteghanemi, Secretary-General of the Arabic Language Academy (ALA), inaugurat
ed the session, highlighting the Academy’s commitment to empowering educators, fortifying the Arabic language among youth, and attracting proficient linguists from the Arab and Islamic world.

Dr. Al Mosteghanemi shed light on the role of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah in inspiring teachers, fostering the Arabic language among the younger generation, and attracting skilled linguists from the Arab and Islamic world.

Throughout the session, Dr. Al Makni explored a range of theoretical frameworks, engaging activities, and interactive methodologies designed to equip teachers with the tools necessary to foster a conducive learning environment and facilitate student success in the classroom.

World Governments Summit 2024: An Asian focus on shaping a bright future

DUBAI: Dubai is preparing to host the 2024 World Governments Summit (WGS), a prominent international platform for envisioning the development of tools and policies that will shape the governments of the future.

This year’s summit will witness the wide participation of Asian countries, which are vital to the international discussions to create a better future for humanity.

The summit will host high-level delegations from Asian governments and witness the attendance of leaders and heads of Asian organisations and institutions.

Previous editions of the WGS have had a significant Asian presence. Japan was chosen as the guest of honour in 2017 due to its significant experiences in social development and state building.

In 2019, Wang Zhigang, the Special Envoy of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Minister of Science and Technology representing the Chinese Government, participated in the summit.

The summit’s previous editions also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the UAE and S
outh Korea, which aimed to support their efforts to accelerate governmental digital transformation projects.

Several heads of state and governments have participated in previous editions of the summit, presenting their continents’ visions for the future.

These high-level participations underscore the commitment of Asian countries to promoting cooperation and expanding their bilateral relations, helping achieve international stability and development, and addressing current challenges through practical and innovative solutions.

Asian countries are expected to contribute to discussions covering vital topics, such as international trade, infrastructure development, and innovations in the government sector.

The WGS 2024 edition will feature six main themes and 15 forums. It will host over 23 ministerial meetings and roundtables, 85 international, regional and intergovernmental organisations, and more than 120 interactive sessions and workshops. Moreover, 200 prominent figures, including heads of state, minist
ers, experts, thinkers, and decision-makers, will take part in the event.

Saif bin Zayed witnesses graduation ceremony at Police College

ABU DHABI: H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, presided over the graduation ceremony of the Police College, which included candidates class 35, male undergraduates class 36, female

undergraduates class 20 and the second class of students from friendly countries.

Sheikh Saif commended the graduates and urged them to redouble their efforts in serving the nation and contributing to its civilizational progress.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of dignitaries such as Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and other esteemed guests from governmental and diplomatic circles.

The minister bestowed honors upon outstanding graduates, including Khalifa Khalid Saeed Rashid Al-Washi, who received the Sword of Honour for excelling in various aspects, and university student Mohammed Musabeh Rashid Al-Zahmi, the top-ranked among female university student
s.

In total, there were 235 candidate students, 35 foreign delegates, 19 in the association batch, and 88 in the undergraduate batch. The 35 were from (America, Canada, Turkey, Australia, Brazil, Colombia, Curaçao, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Aruba, Malta, Bahamas, Congo, Nigeria).

The ceremony commenced with the arrival of H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, followed by the military parade and the administration of the legal oath of loyalty to the UAE and its president. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed also took commemorative photos with the graduates and senior dignitaries.

Brigadier Walid Al Shamsi, Commander of the Police College, expressed gratitude to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his unwavering support, which has contributed to the college’s stature as a bastion of security and honour. He also thanked H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed for his direct involvement in enhancing the college’s standing.

Dubai Civil Defence launches the world’s first mobile floating fire station

DUBAI: In a significant initiative that reinforces its leadership in safety infrastructure and innovation, Dubai Civil Defence has launched the world’s first sustainable mobile floating fire station. The initiative reflects Dubai’s strategy to constantly enhance its fire and rescue services and raise environmental sustainability.

Engineered to provide high efficiency in safeguarding marine activities as well as enhanced coverage and swifter response times, the new mobile floating fire station is set to transform maritime emergency response mechanisms in Dubai. The first of its kind in the world to be sustainable and environmentally friendly, the floating structure is 70% more cost-effective than traditional marine fire stations.

Lieutenant General Expert Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, Director General of Dubai Civil Defense, said: “The deployment of the mobile floating fire station marks a significant step forward in our journey towards achieving global leadership in safety and security. The inauguration of thi
s station not only demonstrates our dedication to generating innovative safety solutions but also aligns with our commitment to contributing to enhance Dubai’s overall infrastructure and services. A significant enhancement to our marine firefighting capabilities, this facility makes Dubai a frontrunner in reducing response times to maritime incidents, with a target response time of just four minutes.’

The launch of the floating station also increases the safety index in maritime navigation and water channels in Dubai with the use of innovative smart solutions, Al Matroushi added. The station’s strategic deployment will ensure comprehensive coverage across Dubai’s maritime and navigational zones that are crucial elements of the emirate’s geography, significantly enhancing Dubai’s responsiveness to accidents at sea, he noted.

Designed with sustainability at its core, the station embodies Dubai’s commitment to environmental conservation while maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency. With the
capability to accommodate 16 individuals, the building stands out for its eco-friendly design. Operating as a mobile marine station, the floating structure eliminates the necessity for dedicated land space, resulting in both cost savings and a significant contribution to reducing carbon footprint and preserving green spaces. Additionally, the floating building showcases mobility with a notable speed of 11 miles per hour.

As Dubai continues to grow as a major hub for maritime trade and tourism, the floating fire station demonstrates the high priority the emirate’s leadership places on driving greater safety innovation and excellence. Through the implementation of innovative solutions and the latest technologies, Dubai Civil Defense continues to provide world-class fire and rescue services, contributing to Dubai’s vision of becoming a global leader in safety and security.

Marib governorate witnessed a massive public march under the slogan ” Steadfast in our position… With Gaza until victory.’

In the massive rallies, participants raised chants of innocence against Jews, America and Israel.

They stressed that America is the mother of terrorism and that it, along with the Israeli and British enemies, poses a real danger and threat to navigation in the Red Sea and the Arabi Sea.
