Jordan chairs 47th session of Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers, 1st add

_: The Saudi Minister of Sports, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Saud, also delivered a speech in which he praised the efforts made by the Arab Ministries of Youth and Sports in making the activities of the 46th session of the Council a success and what they included in terms of projects and work programs.

The Head of the Executive Office, Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Ashraf Sobhi, also delivered a speech in which he stressed the need to continue working to strengthen joint Arab action and empower Arab youth with the necessary skills.

The session included a presentation of the programs and activities that were implemented during 2023 and the approval of the programs submitted by the Ministries of Youth and Sports in the Arab countries to be implemented during 2024. The Council decided to approve Jordan’s hosting of the 19th meeting of the Youth of Arab Capitals under the title of Youth, Technology, and Artificial Intelligence and the Entrepreneurship Course in the Sports Field, and to hold workshops
to prepare the executive plan for the Arab Strategy for Youth, Security, and Peace.

The Council also decided to approve the organization of the “Our Arabism is Our Unity” youth exchange program, the organization of the Jerusalem Support Conference in Palestine, the organization of the 8th Arab-European Youth Forum and the Nile Ship Program for Arab Youth in Egypt, the organization of the Arab Talent Championship, and the Arab Youth Poet Festival in Iraq.

The Council also decided to approve the activities and programs of Tripoli, the Arab Youth Capital for 2024, the organization of the Arab Camping and Photographic Diving Forum in Tunisia, the organization of the Arab Forum for Empowerment in the Field of Environment in Lebanon, the organization of the Arab Youth Empowerment Program and the Holy Shrines Journey Program in Saudi Arabia, the organization of the Digital Citizenship and Youth Program, the establishment of an electronic youth portal, and a meeting on the mechanisms and prospects of Arab youth vol
unteering in Algeria.

University of Jordan, RAK Medical and Health Sciences University sign MoU

Amman: President of the University of Jordan, Nizar Obeidat, and President of the

RAK Medical and Health Sciences University in the United Arab Emirates, Ismail Ibrahim Matalka, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at establishing direct relations to develop academic cooperation in multiple fields.

Under the MoU, cooperative activities will be developed in academic areas of common interest between the two universities, including the exchange of faculty members and researchers for teaching purposes, delivering lectures, conducting scientific research and exchanging expertise and students, conducting joint research projects, and jointly organizing seminars, workshops, and conferences. In addition, there will be an exchange of publications, books, periodicals, and scientific research results.

Obeidat stressed the University of Jordan’s keenness to develop and build partnerships and cooperation in all scientific and research fields with the University of Ras Al Khaimah for Medicine and Health Scien
ces.

Obeidat expressed the university’s readiness to cooperate with the University of Ras Al Khaimah for Medicine and Health Sciences in all fields, especially in the fields of student training, exchange of expertise, visits between faculty members, and conducting joint research projects in medical fields.

Nahyan bin Mubarak receives participants of first consultative meeting of ‘AI Faith & Civil Society Commission’

ABU DHABI: Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, today received, in his palace, Shaykh Abdullah bin Bayyah, Chairman of the UAE Council for Fatwa and Head of the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace, along with Myles Stacey, Special Advisor to the UK Prime Minister, and several officials who participated in the first consultative meeting of the AI Faith and Civil Society Commission, organised by the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace in Abu Dhabi from February 27 to 29.

During the meeting, Sheikh Nahyan said that the UAE, led by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, respects and appreciates knowledge and scholars who are inspired by its rich culture that combines genuine values, noble ideals, openness, progress, and development for the good of humanity.

Shaykh Abdullah bin Bayyah said the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace underscores the UAE’s rich vision and values based on tolerance, peace, love, human fraternity, and human dignity, making the country a role model and sour
ce of tolerance, peace, development, and prosperity for all nations of the world, he added.

The U.S. Embassy in Libya announced that in a phone call yesterday, ChargĂ© d’Affaires Berndt exchanged views with Engineer Belkacem Haftar on the ongoing response to meet the needs of the people of Derna and other communities affected by the catastrophic Storm Daniel floods in September 2023.

Berndt discussed the more than $15 million in humanitarian assistance that the United States has provided to help flood victims and the desire of the United States to continue to assist the people of Derna and other affected communities during the reconstruction phase.

The embassy added that Berndt noted that the United States encourages a unified and coordinated national approach to flood reconstruction with technical support from international institutions and transparency measures to ensure effective use of reconstruction funds.

The Yemeni central governorate of Dhamar on Wednesday hosted a meeting that discussed a mechanism aimed to activate the duties of the provincial team tasked with managing and implementing developmental and cooperative work.

The meeting is meant to begin application of outputs concluded at the workshop hosted by Ibb, which focused on how to activate the developmental and cooperative work at provincial and district levels, Dhamar deputy governor, Ali Atif, said.

The meeting highlighted the need for applying the vision to activate the developmental and cooperative work in Dhamar, for societies in districts, for typical district at the governorate level, for immediate periodical reports to the central technical team, for training for districts’ teams, and for applying the activities and measures stated in the action plan issued by the developmental team.

Supreme Committee for Support of Al-Aqsa approves its field visit plan


The Higher Committee for the Support of Al-Aqsa and the Palestinian Cause, in its meeting on Wednesday, headed by the Advisor to the President of the Supreme Political Council, the scholar Muhammad Muftah, approved the plan for its field visit to the governorates during the next week.

The plan aims to strengthen the efforts exerted by the governors of the governorates (heads of the sub-committees of the Supreme Committee) in the mobilization and mobilization aspects in support of our oppressed Palestinian brothers in the besieged Gaza Strip, and to monitor the progress of the sub-programs in this aspect, including those related to the boycott campaign against Israeli and American goods and companies supporting the Israeli entity.

The Supreme Committee has designated Al-Sabeen Square in Sana’a as a place to hold the major weekly mass march next Friday afternoon, in solidarity with our brothers in Gaza and Palestine, which will be held in conjunction with the mass mass marches in the governorates.

The commit
tee condemned the ongoing US-British aggression on Yemen and its criminal raids that targeted a number of governorates.

It stressed that this blatant aggression will always be met with continuous escalation by the Yemeni armed forces and their naval forces, by striking more American and British ships in the Red Sea, the Arab Sea and Bab al-Mandab. It reiterated its condemnation of the continuous massacres committed by the criminal military machine of the Israeli enemy, the latest of which was the perpetration of eight massacres yesterday against Palestinian families that killed 26 martyrs and wounded 110.
